A Little Challenge to Idaho Conservatives

Posted by Adam Graham in : Idaho Conservative, The

Idaho Senator Brad Little (R-11) is the new Lieutenant Governor of Idaho, replacing Senator Risch. Congratulations, Lieutenant Governor Little. And congratulations to the State’s “Status Quo” establishment, you got your golden boy.

Now to Idaho Conservatives, please take note, this matters. Lieutenant Governor Little represents a good ol’ boy establishment that cares little for conservative values or for making necessary reforms in our state. Come May, 2010, Conservatives had better have a serious challenge in the works for Little, or he’ll be set up pretty to build himself a political machine.

The office of Lieutenant Governor is a part-time job that holds little luster and a small amount of pay, but it’s the key to a solid political future. Consider the last five elected Lieutenant Governors of our state:

  • John Evans-Governor
  • Phil Batt-Governor
  • David LeRoy-Republican Nominee for Governor.
  • Butch Otter-Elected Congressman and Governor
  • Jim Risch-Governor and Senator

Of our last five elected Lieutenant Governors, only David LeRoy has not gone on to be Governor. (Yes, I know there were some appointed Lieutenant Governors who didn’t get go far.)

Idaho Conservatives not only can oust little in 16 months, they can also set the future of the State of Idaho if they’re smart. Idaho Conservatives need to find a true Conservative who is articulate, wise, and can raise money ($300-$400k is about what it will take.) They also need to be willing to put their full effort into their campaign. Please, if you want to run a protest campaign-run for Governor, the filing fee’s the same the price. It’ll also help if they are able to communicate with the average Idahoan in a way that’s relatable and understandable.

Now is not the time to decide or to go into a whole lot of speculation. We got a legislative session straight ahead. But now is the time to start thinking, because if we wait too long, it will be a Little too late.

OK Adam, give us the facts. What in Brad Little’s voting record makes him unworthy of a conservative label? (You didn’t call him a liberal but you poison the well somewhat with the “good ole’ boy” label)

His reluctance on the marriage issue would be a good example. His support for the ’03 Tax increase would be another, but it’s not just the record, it’s the coziness with the status quo of our state which is not really conservative.

That’s It?! It’s not just the record, it’s the coziness?? Well, ok. Tell us about the coziness, then.

I think you can go through the litany of party establishment bosses. He’s long been their favorite. He’s the establishment’s guy.
