A Problem You Like to Have

Posted by Adam Graham in : Side Blog

Interesting story from KIDK on the low unemployment rates. It really does put businesses in a bind, but I think it’s in a good way for the economy. It’s not Idaho Falls, but most of the state that has this “problem.” I have a friend who works at a grocery store and finding good help in this market is a challenge.

I thought raising the minimum wage was supposed to cause massive unemployment. Perhaps the dire warnings from you and others were wrong?

The minimum wage only went up to $5.85, not the $7.25 at the end. Nationwide, the unemployment is rising to 5%. So, perhaps this isn’t the best time to make that argument.

While raising the minimum wage (which by the way I’ve never really spent a whole lot of space on this blog talking) can increase the cost of hiring entry level positions.
