A Win for Decency

Posted by Adam Graham in : Christianity

From RenewAmerica, celebration. We won! The Book of Daniel is history. Guy Adams has the celebratory news:

I also extend my sincere thanks to the excellent staff at RenewAmerica. There are others too numerous to mention, so I list their websites below. We encourage you to visit them and support their causes, which we share. Thank you all.

But above all, we thank YOU, Joe Q. Public, John Doe, or Jane Doe, or whatever else you are called by, because you just changed the world–if only a small part of it. But that’s how things usually get changed, one issue at a time. Remember that. No matter how many celebrities or politicians weigh in on any given issue, without the public’s proactive and continuing support, it would go nowhere. NBC would still be airing this offensive show and other networks would have jumped on the bandwagon too. (More on that later, so stay tuned!)

Remember the power your wallet–and the threatened withholding of it–has on corporate America.

Remember the hidden, yet forceful power, your pen wields.

Remember the impact the sound of your voice can make.

Remember, for it will be needed again and again.

So at the end of the day (and what a day it has been!), when other issues that are important to you come to the light, remember what you just did. Remember that you can indeed make a great difference for good, for good old American values. You made a difference for America, your children, and your grandchildren, who will not now be subjected to this particular brand of gay-friendly, Christian-hostile programming. Others will think twice.

Its a great win. I expected it to be a half season flop, but it was less than that. Even with the controversy, the show had low ratings and was costing NBC money. That said, the show was going to last only half a season anyway, but was instead killed after less than a month.
