A Private Church Search
Posted by Adam Graham in : ChristianityI won’t be posting much about my church search and there’s a reason for that. Listening to Dimitri Nosarev’s sermon and it occurred to me when he mentioned people being critical of the sermon and the pastor.
He said people would say, “The Pastor gets a 9.5, he’s still got room for improvement.” Oh my Gosh! I realized! That’s me!
In fact, on my first and second church searches back in Kalispell, Montana, I was using a star system to rate the churches I was looking at and that was so unfair. (Only 3 churches earned a rating of 3 stars or more.)
So, I prayed God would help me with being so critical and I believe He will. I’m focusing on what’s right and letting the Holy Spirit be my guide.
However, blogging about churches on the church search would be too tempting. Plus, there’s the danger that someone at the church would read something critical and get offended and this could even happen at “Good Churches”. Our nature as human beings when we’re writing critiques is to say what’s wrong and God hasn’t called me to be a fault-finding back-biter. (I don’t know anyone he’s called to do that.) So I’ll keep quiet during the search except perhaps to mention where I went.
