An Upbeat Letter to the Editor

Posted by Adam Graham in : Idaho Conservative, The

I’m used to reading political rants when I take a look at the Idaho Statesman’s Letter to the Editor page. Occassionally, someone will send in a letter to the editor to convey, non-political gripes, but Kathy Marshall set a standard for the rest of us:

Good, honest, kind and helpful people make up a great portion of Boise’s population. That fact was reaffirmed to me recently when I received a call from a lady who said she had found my prescription sunglasses in their case after the fireworks at Ann Morrison Park. I wasn’t even aware I was missing them yet and stunned that someone would find them and call me (I always keep my business card in the case). I was even more pleasantly surprised when she offered to bring them to my office. What a kind and thoughtful thing to do! Her random act of kindness saved me a considerable amount of money and just gave me joy to personally find out there are people like her that go the extra mile. I did not get her name, but she knows who she is and I hope I can pass on a similar kindness and thoughtful deed to someone else. It’s a wonderful life in Boise, Idaho!

Wow, what a nice report to go into the weekend with and perhaps those who don’t write letters to the editor because of a lack of political opinion or desire to talk about it should consider writing about what’s good and praiseworthy. If folks don’t like the negative focus of the news, the Letters to the Editor section would be a great place to start. (After all, that’s the only section we control.)
