And Who’s Fault Is This?

My State Representative Branden Durst (D-18) complains about the House Republican Majority:

Just a few minutes ago the Speaker of the House ruled a motion made by Minority Leader Wendy Jaquet out of order. The motion was to have the House concur in Senate amendments to H599AA,As (the personal property tax bill). The amendments placed a cap of $75,000 on the taxable value of property owned by businesses. In so doing, 86% of all Idaho businesses wouldn’t have to pay this tax at a cost of about $15 million. As importantly, local units of government would be held harmless.

The fact is that the motion wasn’t out of order. This was a case of the Speaker thinking he is, “above the law.” Rep. Jaquet objected and appealed to his ruling, but the appeal failed on a party line vote. This is what happens when there is no balance in the partisan make up of the Legislature. This is what happens when someone perceives that they have absolute power. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

In regards to the procedural issue itself, I won’t get into it. It’s really quite irrelevant. When you get voted down by the vast majority of the house on the procedural issue that would allow your Amendment to be considered, odds are you were going to lose the Amendment anyway.  I’m not going to Monday Morning quarterback the Speaker.

I like Branden Durst, but in regards to his second issue, I have to ask exactly whose fault is it?  I’ll tell you who’s fault it is. Could it be that the party Mr. Durst is a member of is so far to the left that the people of Idaho cannot and will not vote for them on the state level. The Democrats sent up 10 State Representatives and 4 Senators who opposed the abortion coercion bill. That even have 2 Democratic State Representatives who voted against making it a felony to perform sexual acts in front of children. Most Democrats in the legislature are for abortion on demand and are hostile to our state’s resource industries.

In the South, Democrats continued to dominate states at the state level many years after Republicans took over at the Presidential, and even Congressional level.  Democrats in Idaho are a nearly permanent minority due to their own ineptitude. Democrats in Idaho have gone to the far left. Though, I’ll be roundly attacked by the leftosphere for this, it’s the truth, and the sad fact is that many of Idaho’s Democrats are so far left, they don’t even know where the political center is.

While Branden Durst is far more moderate than your average Idaho Democrat, I think if he’s frustrated by the lack of Democrats in the legislature, he should address the problems in the Democratic Party, not complaining about Republicans winning the election. I’m curious were party ratios reversed and Democrats held an overwhelming majority as they do in several states such as West Virginia and Hawaii, whether Durst or any of the other Democrats who complain about this issue would have a problem with.

I’D have a problem with making it a felony to perform sexual acts in front of children, Adam if mom and dad are presumably in the bedroom going at it and little Susie opens the door on them out of curiosity. I did that once as a kid. And there is a line to be drawn about when government should have a say about the private lives of individuals. Parents MOLESTING their kids, yes gvt should have a say. But kids walking in on mom and dad having a fun time in bed, that is another matter. Sorry, but I have to agree with the Dems. And you can check out my blog at http://archdruidstakeonthenews.

Okay, for clarification, it prohibits intentionally committing sexual acts in front of children. Little susie’s accidents aren’t crimes.
