Bailout Fallout: Simpson Challenged from the Right with a Write-In

Posted by Adam Graham in : Idaho Conservative, The

I received an e-mail from one of Mike Simpson’s primary opponents, Greg Nemitz announcing he’s going to challenge Congressman Simpson as a write-in. Writes Nemitz:

What is the difference between the October 1929 crash and the October 2008 crash? There is one crucial difference. 1929 was not an election year.

Now we have found the root behind the $810 Billion bailout, and why it was on the ultra-fast-track to be passed. We have also found the hidden answer behind how they came up with $700B in the first place.

This obscene bill was pushed hard for fast passage so it would be a done deal at least a month before the election. They are counting on Americans to go back to sleep and forget this ever happened by November 4th. The amount was selected because that is how much was needed to prop up the system for 4 to 6 weeks, just long enough to get past the election. This isn’t about what is best for America; it is all, and only, about what is best for the incumbent politicians in Congress…

It is long past time to clean house, the House of Representatives, and the Senate…I am Gregory Nemitz. I am running for Congress as a Write-In candidate against the 5-term incumbent, Mike Simpson, the Representative for Idaho’s 2nd Congressional District. Mike Simpson voted twice FOR the outrageous bailout package that will benefit millionaire speculators and foreigners.

I haven’t see any proof that the bailout will only keep things in order for six weeks. I also haven’t seen any proof that this thing will work at all. There’s a huge level of anger out there over this. I received another e-mail from someone else calling for every member who voted for the bailout to be defeated for re-election. Folks are mad.

Nemitz had been quiet for 4 + months after the primary with no hint of sour grapes or hankering for a rematch. The bail out hits the news and now he’s back.

What will the anger be against incumbents who supported this across the country? It’s hard to tell, but if it can earn Mike Simpson a write-in challenge, this November may hold some unpleasant surprises for the members who made this possible.
