Bastian v. Bastian on Merit Pay
Posted by Adam Graham in : Idaho Conservative, TheSome people have questioned the value of the Idaho Conservative Scorecard, but there is a definite point to it. Case in point. Senator Stan Bastian (R-14) voted against I-Stars (Tom Luna’s Merit Pay Proposal) which is vote #2 on this year’s scorecard. However, on the Gem State Voter Guide, candidates are asked their position on, “Merit pay for public school teachers based on student achievement.” Bastian’s response, “Supports.”
So, who are we to believe? Stan Bastian the Senator who voted against merit pay or Stan Bastian the Senate Candidate who says he’s for it? Zell Miller was right. “Campaign talk tells people who you want them to think you are. How you vote tells people who you really are deep inside.” Indeed.
