Breaking: Alan Keyes Pondering Constitution Party Run
Posted by Adam Graham in : Alan Keyes, Presidential Race 2008From the Alan Keyes supporters blog, those who are participating in regular conference calls report regarding a Constitution Party run:
Alan asked us to pray about it. That’s what he is doing as he is considering these things. He did not say that he is definately going to do it, but from the tone of things I am going to say its very likely.
A Keyes third party run in the current environment would garner about the same percentage of the vote that Ralph Nader received in 2000. Like Nader, Keyes would gain votes of people who felt unrepresented by the Major party candidates, but also take some votes from McCain. Like Nader, he would help the party ideologically closest to him in Congressional and local races. Also, like Nader, should McCain end up losing narrowly, Keyes would take the blame from party bosses.

I think you vastly underestimate a couple of very important things:
1) The ability of Alan Keyes to communicate the truth to the American people.
2) The ability of John McCain to alienate conservatives.
3) The incredible political weakness of John McCain, Barack Obama, and Hillary Clinton.
4) The power of the Almighty God who rules in the affairs of men.
On the other hand, the country may be so far gone that God is done with us. After butchering three to four thousand babies in abortuaries every day for the last thirty five years, why should anyone be surprised?
If so, all bets are off, and we’ll get the kind of left-wing tyrant we so richly deserve.

I could always be wrong. The odds against a third party win are overwhelming, particularly with a lack of money. God could do something, but usually God doesn’t move against human will. He’s a gentlemen that way.
