Calling 9-1-1 v. Shouting Fire

Posted by Adam Graham in : Politics

From CNN:

Sen. Charles Schumer said Sunday the Bush administration is trying to “blame the fire on the person who calls 911″ by suggesting he had a role in one of the costliest U.S. bank failures.

There’s a difference between calling 9-1-1 and shouting fire in a crowded theater. The Senator’s remarks set off a run on the bank with $1.3 billion withdrawn over 13 days. There were responsible ways to handle this. Publicly releasing the letter he sent was not one of them.
