Candidate Filing Wrap-Up

Posted by Adam Graham in : Idaho Conservative, The

The final wrap-up on Campaigns:

1) The U.S. Senate: More bad news for the GOP in the Fall. Kent Marmon, one of the Republican legislative candidates joined the Libertarian Party as their standard bearer for the Senate.  Larry LaRocco got a challenger on the Democratic side, but he should make quick work of David Archuletta.

2) The US House: Praise the Lord. Mike Simpson has not one, but two challengers in the GOP primary. This will be the first competitive GOP primary in District 2 since 1998 and it’s good for the party.

3) The Legislature:  The GOP has a glut of legislative races across the State. District 14’s 3 way primary for Seat A is the only competive legislative race.  Stan Bastian is in a 4-way race for State Senate in 14 and there’s a five way race for State House in my old district.

District 17 has two folks making a run at the 3 legislative races, so the GOP gives a pass to Bill Killen. In my new district, we have a Primary for Seat 18A. In 19, the GOP has 2 candidates for 3 seats. In 20, there are two primary races, as there are 21. I’m also very happy to see Marv Hagedorn will win his first term unopposed. That’s one seat not to worry about.

I’m very happy with the races that we’re going to have this May, and I think it shows a lot of people are getting interested and getting off their duff to do something about the state of our state. So, I salute the candidates and wish them all the best. You can expect several endorsements from this blog in coming months.
