Leon Wolf of Red State did something rare among bloggers and columnists. He admitted he was wrong when he stated Herman Cain was pro-choice on abortion over some confusing statements Cain made on CNN. Wolf, one of Red State’s most vocal pro-lifers declared, “I now realize that calling Herman Cain “pro-choice” was not just wrong, it was disastrously wrong, and for that I am sorry. I have come to understand that Herman Cain has in reality done far more for the pro-life movement than I ever have.”

Herman Cain’s record of Pro-Life support goes back to his 2004 Senate Campaign in which he denounced abortionand the Roe v. Wade decision, writing:

Today we mourn the murder of millions of innocent lives because of the decision made 31 years ago by the United States Supreme Court to give doctors the right to end the life of an unborn child. Unbelievably, the decision of Roe v. Wade shows that our Nation still chooses to place human convenience over the sanctity of human life. No great nation can prosper when life is not valued.

Cain spent $1 million of his own money for an ad campaign against abortion in 2006. The ads exposed the tough truth of the higher abortion rates among blacks and Hispanics which and as late as March of last year, he called Planned Parenthood, “Planned Genocide.” The National Right to Life Committee has backed Cain up, stating that he is fully pro-life. His clarifying statements to the Brody File coupled with his past record should dismiss the question of his dedication to pro-life principles.

Unfortunately, Wolf is almost alone in admitting his error. There are still people who are questioning’s Cain commitment to the pro-life cause to drive a wedge between Cain and pro-life voters.

Either they, like Wolf, are totally ignorant of Cain’s pro-life record, they are incredibly obtuse, or they’re smearing Cain to promote their favored candidates. And for Presidential candidates who are joining the attack such as Rick Perry, Michele Bachmann, and Rick Santorum, the attacks on Cain’s commitment life is really being made without regards to truth in an attempt to save their flailing presidential campaigns.

It is fair game to suggest that Cain committed a gaffe and got confused in his interview with Morgan. It’s fair to question whether based on his articulation skills in interviews, if he has what it takes to be President. What’s not fair is to ignore the totality of Cain’s commitment to the cause of life for the sake of political gamesmanship.

In my old hometown of Kalispell, the 40 days for life campaign is going strong, as people pray peacefully outside an abortion clinic. One thursday, one pro-abortionists decided to demonstrate their opposition:

A homemade incendiary device was thrown at one of the participants of the 40 Days for Life pro-life prayer vigil at an abortion business in Kalispell, Montana on Thursday night.

The woman walked on the public sidewalk near the abortion business when an unidentified person threw the device — akin to a “Molotov cocktail” — in her direction. The woman did not see either the firebomb nor the assailant it exploded on the sidewalk behind her, making a loud popping noise like a big firecracker as it burst into flame. Fortunately, the woman was not hurt in the incident.

The police reacton makes this situation even worse, according to the report as the Kalispell police showed incompetence-:

After a lengthy delay, a Kalispell police officer arrived. However, according to officials with the Thomas More Society, a pro-life legal group that is helping the participants, instead of inspecting the bomb debris or calling evidence technicians to the scene, the officer remarked that police could never get prints or other evidence from the bomb’s remains and said he would call the city’s garbage service to dispose of all the debris.

And then a good old fashioned bit of bias:

The officer then said that the 40 Days prayer vigil participants should expect this kind of reaction if they’re protesting at the abortion business. Questioning Officer Hoover’s assessment of the attack, Trierweiler called the Kalispell desk sergeant to complain, where she was unable to get further assistance.

Seriously? The official stand of this officer appears to be that if you practice your first Amendment rights in a controversial way, you just HAVE to expect a firebomb. Would he say the same thing if he was called to the scene of an abortion clinic bombing. “I’ll call the trash man to take care of the bomb as they’re no way we’ll get fingerprints off off it. You got to expect things like this if you’re running an abortion clinic.”

Of course, the second situation is absurd. Any act of violence against an abortion facility is a crime for the FBI under the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act and the FBI would not take kindly to this sort of thing. However, because it involved pro-life protestors, people can be given the brush off by police officers whose actions are not a discredit to their uniform.’

Long time readers know that I’m 100 percent proudly pro-life. I’ve been active in pro-life causes for more than 20 years. I’ve been to life chains in Denver, Kalispell, and Boise, and Marches for Life in Kalispell and Boise. I’ve lost count of exactly how many I’ve been to, but I’m in double digits with both.

I have to strongly but respectfully disagree with the decision of Idaho Chooses Life in Idaho State Senate District 18 to endorse Rep. Branden Durst (D-18) over Deputy Attorney Mitch Toryanski. I know Mitch Toryanski, I’ve talked to Mitch Toryanski and he is solidly pro-life. I found that out before I endorsed him in the Republican Primary.

To be clear, Branden Durst has a solid pro-life record and he’s a decent fellow. As a group, that’s only concerned about the life issue, there’s no apparent reason for Idaho Chooses Life to oppose Branden Durst. However, there’s also no reason to endorse Durst to the exclusion of someone who will be just as good on pro-life issues.

ICL seems to be taking the same tact as the NRA. If an incumbent (or a candidate with a record) supports the NRA position as much as the challenger, they will go ahead and endorse the challenger. For example, there are 3 Pennsylvania incumbent Democrats the NRA is endorsing who have “A” grades. Their opponents are marked as “AQ.” This tells me that while the AQ candidate stand solid on gun rights, they don’t have a record. My problem with Idaho Chooses Life and the stances it takes in races with two pro-life candidates is that it doesn’t give any indication that they endorsed one pro-life candidate over another one and why they did it. Pro-lifer voters who read the ICL literature are likely to conclude Mitch isn’t pro-life, and he is pro-life.

As a pro-lifer, I support Mitch Toryanski because his overall political efforts will do more to advance the pro-life cause. Serving in an elected office is not only about voting on bills. It’s also about the product of their political life as I’ve written about before in regards to national pro-life Democrats:

On the abortion issue, the saying “personnel is policy” is spot-on. And it’s here that pro-life Democrats consistently disappoint. Despite the fact Sonia Sotomayor’s judicial philosophy would almost certainly favor abortion rights, both pro-life Senate Democrats supported her confirmation. A look back at the 2006 Pennsylvania Senate race between Santorum and Casey reminds us that Santorum would never have supported Sotomayor.

Even the sainted Governor Bob Casey, Sr. appointed a pro-choice Democrat to the Senate and ensured his election in 1991. Why? Party loyalty binds pro-life Democrats to support and promote the party’s overwhelmingly pro-choice appointees and political candidates.

Any politician who has been in office builds a political machine, and the political machines of pro-life Democrats end up helping elect many extremely pro-choice Democrats. While Stupak is synonymous with pro-life Democrats, his campaign committee has sent thousands of dollars to pro-choice candidates and officeholders, such as Senators Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) and Sherrod Brown (D-OH)

There are sincere pro-life Democrats out there who really believe what they say and are trying the best they can. However, invariably, because of their party membership, they do more damage than good to the pro-life cause.

While Idaho State Senators don’t build a huge political machine, they do have clout which they use to help elect other candidates, and invariably a Senator Branden Durst will support the election of far more pro-choice politicians than Senator Mitch Toryanski because of the difference in parties.

In addition, on social issues overall Toryanski is far better. He gave solid down the line answers on where he stood on conservative issues when filling out the Cornerstone Voter Guide and is also endorsed by the NRA with an AQgrade. Rep. Durst? Well, he didn’t answer the Cornerstone Voter Guide and the NRA gave him a grade of “?” Apparently, he took the fifth with both organizations.

That’s his right (Fifth Amendment and all), but it’s also the right of socially conservative voters to wonder how Durst’s stances on other issues line up with their values, including their right to keep and bear arms. On all of these issues, we don’t have to guess where Mitch Toryanaksi stands, we know. And that is why I hope other social conservatives will join me in supporting Toryanski for Senate.

Pro-life students participated in the Pro-Life Day of Silent Solidarity with some positive results this past week:

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) — Tens of thousands of pro-life students endured taunts and threats from fellow students today to don red tape and keep their mouths shut in remembrance for the unborn children who have been killed in abortions. But dealing with the harassment paid off for the eight students who helped prevent abortions.

The students joined their peers for the annual Pro-Life Day of Silent Solidarity, organized by the pro-life group Stand True.

Throughout the day, students emailed and submitted on Twitter and Facebook their stories of what they encountered.

“There was this girl at school, and she got pregnant three months ago, and she absolutely hates it,” one student told organizer Bryan Kemper. “She was going to have an abortion, and she followed me around all day telling me how she was going to. And finally I asked why and had this discussion with her.”

“She didn’t understand what her consequences would be if she had it, and I explained it, and it took around an hour before she broke down crying and understood she couldn’t do it. She felt so bad, and so I’m not sure what her feelings were, I just knew how long she was crying, and her reaction,” the student shared.

“She put the red tape on her mouth, and promised to keep this baby, or give it up for adoption. She didn’t want the pain of an abortion, or to kill a life. A precious life was saved from this day,” the student said.

A total of eight abortions were prevented through the efforts of these pro-life youth. Of course, there are always mockers, and some folks with a very sick sense of humor:

“I bumped into a boy and mumbled “sorry!” from beneath the red tape covering my mouth, and a boy on the other side of me yelled ‘Oh, she spoke! Another baby — dead,” Liana explained. “I was mocked an entire art class, with kids saying ‘choose life’ to inanimate objects, and then profanely expressing that it’s not a baby, and even if it was, they didn’t care.”

Even this teenager saw what so many pro-life adults see every day, the callous disregard for human life.

Some sort of education. Apparently good manners and respect for the opinion of others isn’t taught in that school. And what a deranged sense of humor. Apparently, the guy who thought blowing up kids for not going along with a Carbon emission cutting plan was on the cutting edge of sick, pagan humor.

The kids involved this are to be commended for standing up for the innocent. The pro-life issue is perhaps the most misunderstood issue in America. It’s not primarily a political issue. Most legislation proposed on abortion touches on a very small portion of crisis pregnancies. The real pro-life work goes on, year in and year out, no matter who’s in power. It’s a never-ending battle to educate people as the reality of abortion, to change hearts, and minds.

The folks who carry on this fight in a spirit of love face a tough challenge. It’s emotionally draining, exhausting, and thankless. For teens in public schools, it’s particularly tough to take a stand against NEA Orthodoxy on abortion and stand up for the unborn, and be different. My hats off to these great youth.

The ugly truth about Public Transit…transit workers are half as productive as they were 40 years ago.

Talk show host gets even with abortion clinic that was using his show to drown out pro-lifers, helps save life.

East Timor resists pro-abortion pressure.

Another blow for the taxpayer heavily-subsidized ”Lens Crafters” of Family Planning:

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, June 5, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) — The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit is reinstating Gonzalez v. Planned Parenthood of Los Angeles, a case alleging that Planned Parenthood defrauded taxpayers of tens of millions of dollars by overbilling government programs for birth-control pills and similar items.

Jay Sekulow, Chief Counsel of the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ), whose attorneys are handling the case, said that although “this case is by no means over, winning this appeal means we have gotten the federal claim over the threshold hurdles and can now get down to the heart of this case: the alleged fraud.”

Victor Gonzalez, a former Chief Financial Officer for Planned Parenthood of Los Angeles (PPLA), had filed his suit on December 19, 2005, shortly after he was fired allegedly for voicing concerns about PP’s illegal accounting practices.

According to Gonzalez, Planned Parenthood had been billing California’s Department of Health Services (DHS) since at least 1997 at the ”usual and customary” rates for oral contraceptives rather than at the lower “acquisition cost” rates. This was despite the fact that the DHS had repeatedly instructed the Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California (PPAC) to seek reimbursement for drugs solely at the acquisition cost.

Those pro-lifers who are going after Planned Parenthood have got the right idea. The fight over Planned Parenthood moves the issue of abortion from “a woman’s right to choose” and emotional hard cases to a fight against “big abortion.” (See this story of the “sacred and holy” world’s largest abortion clinic in Houston.)

Probably, the pro-life policy that would have the biggest impact right now is to defund Planned Parenthood, just as ACORN was defunded. Let there be no doubt it, “Big Abortion” only survives because of numerous taxpayer subsidies at all levels. And while they may protest that “those funds” go somewhere else, money is fungible and money that taxpayers give Planned Parenthood for non-abortion related services frees up funds for abortion. Defund Planned Parenthood, and you’ve crippled the number one provider of abortions.

My latest Pajamas Media column is up:

For more than three months, “Bart Stupak will stop this” was a rallying cry for pro-lifers concerned about the Senate’s abortion-funding health bill. However, Stupak caved in exchange for President Obama issuing an executive order that did absolutely “nothing that the Senate bill didn’t do.” In addition, President Obama could repeal his executive order tomorrow.

In essence, these pro-life Democrats sacrificed the cause they held dear to pass a bill that Congressman Stupak said funds abortion — and they got nothing of substance from President Obama in return.

For pro-life activists, the passage of health care reform with its abortion premium and lack of conscience protections for pro-life medical workers should serve as a wake-up call that the Republican Party is the only reliable source of pro-life leadership.

Pro-lifers have tried to play the abortion issue in much the same way the NRA has played the gun issue. The NRA Political Victory Fund famously endorses both Republicans and Democrats who share its position. They can do this quite easily because gun control is, for the most part, a somewhat isolated issue. Abortion is far more complex, as the health care vote revealed.

Democrats had to choose between their pro-life principles and their desire to pass comprehensive health care. They opted for the expansion of big government, and this is just the latest in a series of sell-outs of the pro-life community that go back decades.

The rest is here.

Rep. Stephen Kren (R-Nampa) introduced legislation before the House that would ban abortion for race or gender reasons.

Abortion for sex selection is very unpopular with the American people. A 2006 poll showed 86 percent opposed to it, and I think its far past time that it be addressed. You shouldn’t die because you’re a boy or a girl.

Race abortions? I’m not sure I see it. I’m aware that Planned Parenthood was founded by a genocidal racist, but I can’t think of many cases where a woman would have an abortion because of race reasons. I suppose if she’d slept with someone of another race and didn’t want to have a baby that didn’t look like her or if she’d slept with someone of her own race and wanted her first child to be by someone of a different race that could be a race-based reason, but I’ve never heard of that as a reason for having an abortion. In fact, it’s counterintuitive to suggest that would happen.

If I were a legislator, the inclusion of “race” in the bill wouldn’t stop me from supporting it, but I would probably suggest dropping it as it really does muddy the water.

With the Stupak Amendment and the hot topic of abortion funding back in the news, some people are beginning to remember that after RomneyCare was approved in Massachusetts, it’d have been appropriate to change the state welcome sign to say, “Welcome to Massachusetts: Home of the $50 Abortion.”

Camp Romney responds that critics don’t get it (Hat Tip: Hot Air.):

But Romney spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom said his boss had no choice when he pushed his health plan because he had to abide by a Supreme Judicial Court ruling mandating abortion coverage for women getting Medicaid.

“It’s not something that Gov. Romney agrees with, but it’s longstanding court precedent that predates his administration,” Fehrnstrom wrote in an e-mail.

So, Romney had to allow abortion coverage for Romneycare to be legal under Massachusetts law. Okay, so I get it. No abortion, no Romneycare.

This raises a fundamental question about Mitt Romney for the most committed pro-lifers. I’ll daresay that most bloggers and conservative political activists don’t fit into that category. Even many pro-life bloggers are opposed to abortion, but it’s not make or break for them. However, for me, it is the issue that I always come back to because it’s about our fundamental humanity and we compromise that at our peril.

I assume that Romney is an intelligent and capable man.. I’ll also allow, for the sake of argument in this post, that his conversion to the pro-life cause was sincere and that he now believes that abortion is the taking of an innocent human life and that the unborn should be protected in law. I also think its fair to assume that if you subsidize abortion, the number of abortions performed will go up, and with Romney’s understanding of economics, he should understand this.

That in mind, the question that I ask myself is if Governor Romney knew that he would have to create a regime of $50 abortions, why did he push Romney Care? It wasn’t as if this were the legislature’s idea and Romney merely decided to work with a Democratic supermajority to make the bill better. He bragged of passing this bill, he owned it and he was responsible for it.

Romney made a calculation, a true Harvard Business School style cost-benefit analysis, that reforming the state’s insurance laws and increasing the number insured was worth a few hundred unborn human lives. He offered up a few hundred abortiosn as a sacrifice to appease the god of a better health care system. And that Romney’s folks even think this is a good excuse is why pro-lifers shouldn’t trust them.

Romney understands money, power, and big business. What he doesn’t understand is what the pro-life movement is all about. You don’t trade lives for money or some other goal.

Sincere pro-life beliefs are in action in the U.S. House right now. Congressman Joseph Cao (R-La.) and Bart Stupak (D-Mi.) both want an Obamacare bill passed. Even with the Stupak Amendment, I disagree with Obamacare, but I think these two gentlemen and the others with them are sincere pro-lifers. They understand there are some things you don’t put a price on.

Too bad they didn’t teach that at Harvard.

My latest column is up at Pajamas Media

Advocates of legalized abortion bristle when pro-life advocates call them pro-abortion. Their typical position is best defined by President Clinton’s position on the procedure: that abortion should be “safe, legal, and rare.”

Six years ago, I examined the abortion polls, and the polling data indicated Americans were quite conflicted on the issue. A change of wording changed the whole outcome of the poll.

A 2003 CNN poll did show some amazing results regarding abortion restriction questions asked in straightforward ways. Americans oppose abortion in the second (68%) and third (84%) trimesters. Americans likewise support informed consent laws (88%), a 24-hour waiting period (78%), parental consent for minors (73%), and even spousal notification for married women (72%).

Yet not many on the left advocate for these policies. Indeed, each restriction on abortion only passes as a result of herculean efforts to shepherd the bill through the legislature and then fend off years of court challenges. While many Americans are sincerely pro-choice, the leftist groups that claim to represent pro-choice Americans have shown themselves to be sincerely pro-abortion.

First consider the Super Bowl ad starring college football standout Tim Tebow. The ad is a thirty-second spot produced by Focus on the Family that tells the story of how Tebow’s mother continued her pregnancy despite complications that threatened her life. Abortion rights groups have gone nuclear with calls for the ad not to be aired and attacks on Tebow and Focus on the Family. (A second ad, also featuring Tebow, was announced by the pro-life group on the Friday before the Super Bowl.)

The ad doesn’t advocate for or against any legislation. It only encourages women to choose to continue their pregnancies. If the goal of pro-choice America is to reduce the number of abortions, why does anyone have a problem with the ad?

My latest piece at Pajamas Media takes on the pure federalism argument on abortion:

Should pro-lifers change how they talk about abortion? PJM’s Nicholas Guariglia thinks so, writing, “For example, rather than remain fixated on the immorality of abortion, why not emphasize the unconstitutionality of Roe v. Wade itself?”

Certainly, Roe v. Wade was wrongfully decided. Far too much time is spent hand-wringing over whether pro-lifers should seek to make pro-life laws at the state level or whether there should be a federal constitutional amendment.

Under Article V of the Constitution, a federal constitutional amendment would require obtaining the votes of 290 members of the House, 67 senators, and 38 state legislatures. We’re not at that level of consensus, and we won’t get there any time soon.

That said, there’s a problem with Guariglia’s case for legal positivism on abortion that’s typical of the tactics suggested by those unconcerned with the issue. Namely, it believes abortion to be primarily a political issue when abortion is primarily a cultural issue.

Let’s consider those who work tirelessly outside of abortion clinics to persuade women to choose life. Would the appropriate argument in that case be: “Ma’am, don’t you know that this abortion is being facilitated by a wrongheaded court decision?”

At least one piece of anecdotal evidence suggests the moral argument made in the halls of power has an impact on the decisions of the people. During the partial-birth abortion debate, one woman heard former Senator Rick Santorum’s eloquent arguments and changed her mind about getting an abortion.

It has been argued, with some justification, that the key to winning the abortion battle is to change hearts and minds. Santorum did that with his moral arguments on the Senate floor. Did Fred Thompson’s federalism position on abortion achieve that end?

Republicans got their favored candidate in Pennsylvania’ s 11th District where conservative pro-immigration enforcement Mayor Lou Barletta. (Hat Tip: Campaign Spot.) This puts me in a festive mood, that I will now embed the theme to Baretta with two provisos:

1) Yes, I know the guy’s name is Barletta not Baretta.

2) Yes, I know Robert Blake got into trouble with some allegations of murder (of which he was acquitted) but that doesn’t negate a good theme song for a law-abiding character by law-abiding musicians:

In other news:

Senators John McCain (R-Az.) and Senator Tom Coburn have come out with a 55-page report identifying $7 billion in waste. CBS gives a few highlights, “”$221,000 for a study on why young men don’t like condoms, $5 million to provide geothermal heat for a Tennessee mall that’s all but empty, and $950,000 for studying ant behavior at two Arizona universities.” (Hat Tip: The Corner.)

What’s the big problem with the economy? NFIB says its government creating uncertainty.

Towanda Wimms, the mother of one of the Fort Hood shooting suspects is coming forward to say that prosecutors should have also filed charges on the death of her daughter’s unborn child. (Hat Tip: Jill Stanek.)

The latest Live Action video is out and it’s another doozy of a look at a Planned Parenthood. In the video, Planned Parenthood officials repeatedly insist “it’s not a baby” and in regards to hearing a heartbeat, they declare it a “heart tone.” (What medical dictionary did you get that out of, Planned Parenthood?) (Hat Tip: Michelle Malkin.)

There are a lot of good teachers. There are no good teacher’s unions. The DC teacher’s union is jumping for joy at the opportunity to force children off of vouchers and into DCs crime, drug-ridden, academically deficient public schools. This was after statements at the time indicating existing kids would be grandfathered. These kids lives are being destroyed to serve a politically correct agenda and Idahoans need to call Senator Crapo and demand an explanation for his support of this monstrosity. (Hat Tip: Right Wing News.)

From the Kenny Rogers school of politics. Rep. Joe Baca (D-Ca.) knows when to fold ‘em. He’s dropping his request to have Tiger Woods awarded the Congressional Gold Medal. Gee, wonder why? Seriously, with all we know about athletes going back to Babe Ruth and through the present day, I think its reasonable that we limit the award of Congress’ highest honor to actual heroes like Mother Teresa and Billy Graham, rather than merely to someone who has been blessed with good sports talent.

I’m not a fan of the Prosperity Gospel, but I think Atlantic’s piece blaming it for the crash is just plain silly.

I tip my hat to the mad skills of Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Ut.) in penning “a Hip hop song about Hanukkah written by the Senatior Senator from Utah.” Hatch is probably one of the most accomplished musicians in politics. I loved his, “Heal Our Land.”

Finally, a nice story of self-defense from Georgia. Two armed robbers got into the home of an elderly man, only to find themselves held at gun point. (Hat Tip: Gun Watch.)

Regarding Senator Jim Risch (R-ID) calling for Fort Hood prosecutors to seek indictment for killing the 14th victim, the unborn child of one of the other victims, Alan asks:

Conservatives will applaud this, of course, which is why Risch is doing it. But geez, there are already 13 counts of murder; another one won’t accomplish anything tangible. My main beef is that this is simply injecting politics into a tragic situation. And really, isn’t going on the radio to announce this position simply political opportunism?

Isn’t Risch just exploiting these murders for his own political gain?

This isn’t about politics. This is about recognizing that an innocent human life was snuffed out and taken away and to give that life the dignity of having his or her murderer brought to justice. By Alan’s standards, why bother to prosecute for all 13 victims, we could just as easily only prosecute for six of the killings and still get the death penalty, and we’d save on paper.

Why don’t we only prosecute for six killings? Because it would diminish the value of the other seven lives. Those unborn lives in a violent crime should be honored and respected. This is also why we passed the Unborn Victims of Violence Act which is the law of land, and Senator Risch simply called for the enforcement of the law, and his stance is completely appropriate.

I receive many fundraising letters everyday, and usually I ignore them. However, I received a very important letter from Stanton Healthcare, a medical clinic focusing on the needs of young women facing unexpected pregnancies.

The way Stanton raises money to a great extent is through baby bottle fundraisers. They go to a local church and give willing members a bottle to take home. Then, over the course of the next few weeks, loose change is collected as they receive it and they put it in the baby bottle. They bring back the bottles full of change and with enough baby bottles, Stanton will collect thousands of dollars to help women in crisis pregnancy situations. They provide pr

One of those baby bottle fundraisers was cancelled, and Stanton had expected to raise $10-$12,000 from it. I pulled some money out of savings to make a special contribution in addition to my regular payroll deduction. I’m not saying that brag, but rather to raise a challenge. If you’re concerned about the tragic loss of life through abortion and you have the resources, please consider a donation of what you’re able to provide to help Stanton Health Care out

We become increasingly aware of the misdeeds of Planned Parenthood. Lila Rose’s investigations have shown Planned Parenthood willing to cover up statuatory rape:

A former Planned Parenthood Director came on Huckabee this past weekend, former Planned Parenthood director Abby Johnson came on and explained that in a tough economy, Planned Parenthood is pushing abortion as its own stimulus package, without regards to the lives of young women:

There needs to be alternatives to women in crisis pregnancies and Stanton provides a great service to the Women of our Community with compassion caring counselling that has changed lives by offering life-affirming alternatives to women who are considering abortions, and helping pick up the pieces of those women who were led astray by death merchants like Planned Parenthood.

However, Stanton needs us to partner with them and I would urge you to please donate a little to help Stanton through this rough spot and also to consider becoming a regular donor. When you give to Stanton is spent on saving and restoring lives, and extending love and compassion to women in crisis pregnancy situations and their babies. I can think of no more worthy cause.

I wrote about attending a townhall meeting for Chuck Heileson on October 28. My impressions were generally positive, but I wasn’t impressed with Heileson’s answer on abortion. I’d asked if he was pro-life and got an answer that focused on what the Constitution said and that Roe v. Wade was constitutionally bad, but without giving any clue to how he felt about abortion.

I got a call today from Heileson’s campaign. They’ve gotten from people who read my blog post and were concerned with where Heileson stood on abortion and wanted to clarify.

Heileson is pro-life, however with his answers, he tends to focus on what the Constitution says. And the Constitution does not make abortion a federal issue. However, Heileson does believe that the unborn should receive legal protection at a state level, and at the federal level, he’d favor passage of a Constitutional Amendment banning abortion.

Hopefully, he’ll get better at articulating that pro-life position, but I’m satisfied that it is a pro-life position and that he is concerned with following the constitution in the way he addresses abortion.

If someone can’t be trusted to protect the rights of the unborn to life, which is basic, how can we even begin to hope they will do the right thing to protect other rights.

This is not to say that I will back third parties or support the Democrats against a pro-abortion Republican. At times, I may even go after a Democratic nominee who has a Republican opponent that I don’t care for, but this will be an action of opposition to the Democrats, not support for them.

What this does mean is that pro-choice Republicans who expect to get an endorsement, money, etc. from me are really barking up the wrong tree.

Last night before passing the Obamacare bill, a bi-partisan majority including 176 Republicans and 64 Democrats voted to bar the use of federals funds in the Obamacare bill to subsidize abortion.

Idahoans would be interested noted that Congressman Walt Minnick (D-ID) voted against this amendment, which had the effect of incorporating the Hyde Amendment into the Health Care bill. If you live in Idaho’s 1st District, your congressman voted to spend your tax dollars on abortion.

No wonder Planned Parenthood gave $5,000 to Walt Minnick in 2008 and the National Abortion Rights Action League gave Minnick another $5,000. Their investment has paid off. But if you live in 1st District, do you feel that Minnick’s extremist vote paid off for you?

My latest Pajamas Media post is up:

All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others.
— Animal Farm

An elderly, disabled, pro-life activist dependent on an oxygen tank and who wore leg braces was gunned down in Michigan. Had the man been an abortionist or a leftist activist like a Bush-era anti-war protester, the death of Jim Pouillon would have been news all week. Instead, it got buried in the weekend news cycle.

Compared to the media coverage of the murder of George Tiller, which pro-life activists repudiated, the murder of Jim Pouillon has garnered no national coverage. This despite the fact the murderer has admitted he killed Pouillon because of his pro-life activities.

A number of leftist justifications argue this isn’t the same as the George Tiller case, contending Pouillon’s murderer was 1) mentally unstable, 2) not a pro-choice activist, and 3) had two other targets and therefore this was not a crime against pro-lifers.

The arguments themselves are fairly reasonable. However, when compared to the media coverage of anti-abortion shootings, wide double standards exist.

In the first place, Eric Rudolph, whose 1998 bomb killed an off-duty Atlanta police officer who worked at an abortion clinic, also had multiple targets, many not related to abortion. John Salvi, who killed two women at an abortion clinic in Massachusetts in the 1990s, was a mentally unstable young man who committed suicide in jail and showed signs of schizophrenia. Further, the anti-abortion killers have existed on the fringes of the pro-life movement and have been condemned roundly. Yet all of these killings count against the pro-life movement in this country, while the killing of Pouillon is treated as irrelevant.

Consider also that the Pouillon killing hasn’t been the only violence committed against pro-life activists. This past summer, in Phoenix, a man pulled a gun on a pro-lifer who handed a pamphlet to his girlfriend just one week after another man in Chico, California, tried to run down a sixty-year-old pro-life protester.

And, that’s not all. David Brody of CBN News reports the FBI is looking into increased death threats against pro-lifers, many coming after the Tiller killing, when irresponsible media figures branded pro-life activists as nutty terrorists in reaction to the first anti-abortion murder in nearly a decade. Given recent events, will Keith Olbermann be the one with blood on his hands, as he famously slandered Bill O’Reilly?

In the past three months, in addition to the murder of Jim Pouillon, there have been two cases of assault with a deadly weapon and now we get this story out of Arizona:

Flagstaff, AZ (LifeNews.com) — Pro-life advocates are upset by an attack on a pro-life man in Arizona who was holding a pro-life sign that apparently upset two pro-abortion women. The attack came eight days after pro-life advocate James Pouillon was shot repeatedly and killed in Michigan by a man who didn’t like him protesting abortion at a high school.

In the new case, 69-year-old Johnny Wallace was attacked by two women as he held two pro-life signs condemning the racist undertones of abortion and Planned Parenthood.

Wallace was alone in front of City Hall on the busiest street in town at the time of the attack. He was known to take up position at the spot most every day to make sure members of the community were reminded of the problems associated with abortion.

His two signs read “Abortion kills more black Americans in four days than the Klan killed in 150 years,” and “Life begins at conception and ends at Planned Parenthood.”

Wallace was approached from behind by two women, both 48, who began by yelling profanities at him. One then attempted to take way and destroy his sign. After Wallace was wrestled to the ground, the other woman joined the attack.

Paramedics were called and Wallace was treated for minor injuries. He suffered an elbow injury that has required additional treatment, according to officials with the pro-life group Operation Rescue.

Note that Wallace’s signs were not “graphic.” (That was part of the “blame the victim” thread that went through Jim Pouillon story.) Of course, they were somewhat inflammatory, but since when is the fact that you were offended by someone’s sign a justification for putting the beat down on them?

I also note that at least three of these four attacks were on elderly men. I guess these thugs are pretty brave for going after the most dangerous “right wing terrorists” they can find.

That the media continues to ignore this shows the incredible malpractice of the Government-run media.

This story is breaking fast in the blogosphere:

Little Rock – Authorities have identified the soldier killed in Monday’s double-shooting outside a U.S Army recruitment office in west Little Rock.

At a briefing Monday afternoon, Little Rock police chief Stuart Thomas identified the suspect as Abdul Hakim Mujahid Muhammad, 24, of Little Rock. Thomas says Muhammad also goes by the name Carlos Bledsoe.

There’s a very clear case for blaming Michael Moore, for his portrayal of military recruiters as exploiters of the poor who steal men from disadvantage neighborhoods to die in pointless wars or the Code Pink radicals who attack and protest our military recruiters. You could also blame all those colleges that are intolerant of military recruiters and therefore teach others to be intolerant.

You won’t see any of these arguments posted by the liberal blogs who are trying to slander the entire pro-life movement for the actions of a lone wacko in Kansas. Maybe our politics would be well-served by blaming the actions of murderers on murderers rather than trying to score points off tragedy.

On the drive home from work, I caught a replay of Glenn Beck, who had carried the President’s announcement of Sonia Sotomayor as the next Justice of the Supreme Court.

I’m already quite disturbed by many aspects of her legal record, but I found her personal story quite touching, but also troubling. It’s a remarkable story of “only in America.” She beat the odds and scrapped her whole life to get to be on the Court of Appeals, overcoming the death of her father, diabetes at a young age. Through the love and hard work of her mother, she received a Catholic School education, and ended up going to Princeton.

Yet, Judge Sotomayor’s most likely legacy is the preservation of the specious claim of a Constitutional Right to Abortion which has denied so many their opportunity to have their American dream. And she’ll do this while eating away at the freedom and opportunity that made her story possible.

Lila Rose is interviewed by Glenn Beck about her going undercover in Tennessee as a 14 year-old and a Planned Parenthood counselor to go and lie in court in order to get an abortion. Planned Parenthood defenders swear on a stack of Bibles that this is an isolated incident. But this is the eighth clinic around the nation. How long does this have to go on until it’s consdered a fundamental cultural problem within that organization that should cost it taxpayer’s funding?
