Two Conservatives for the Boise City Council
Posted by Adam Graham in : Idaho Conservative, TheI’ve never listened to liberal Congressman Jim Hightower’s radio program, but I know he has a way with words. The title of one of his books was, “If the Gods Had Meant Us to Vote, They’d Have Given Us Candidates.”
And perhaps this is why voter turnout is so abysmal in many Boise City Council elections. Conservatives have no candidates and the North End predominates our voting.
Yet, this year, it’s different. Already, we’ve been given two fine conservative candidates in Dan Dunham and Lucas Baumbach. The future of our city is at stake as some envision us becoming wannabes for cities like Portland or corrupt Democratic machine cities on the East Coast. Standing with a different vision are Dan Dunham and Lucas Baumbach.
I know Dan the best. He is someone who has served for many years fighting the good fight within the Republican Party. He’s someone who I’ve talked with time and time again at conservative functions. He speaks from a depth of conviction that motivates him and not ambition for a career in politics.
Lucas, I’ve met only a few times, but I can already tell there’s a real passion and fire for the people of our city. He is well-educated with background from Cornell, but somehow has manage to hang on to some of common sense. He offers fresh thinking that I think really can shake up a city hall that seems dominated by yes man. His website is up here and under construction as the campaign gets under way.
Of course, there’s several months of campaigning ahead. It is crucial for good conservatives to get out to vote. You’ve got candidates, so you’ve got no excuse.
