Convention Journal, Day One
Posted by Adam Graham in : Idaho Conservative, TheOne has note the large amount of propoganda one is given when you arrive at the State Convention. Our information packets were filled with endorsements for Kirk Sullivan for Chairman and Blake Hall for National Committeeman. The big positive is that voters at this convention are less likely to be blind slaves to, “Well, the party leaders said it.”
I note with some interest that J. Kirk Sullivan is suggesting that no Ron Paul delegates be elected to the national convention due to Ron Paul dropping out of the race. This is despite Ron Paul getting 24% of the vote in Idaho. The suggestion on Sullivan’s part shows what a problem he has with party unity. The day before the convention starts, Sullivan wants to cut the legs out from under the Paul people, provoke a convention floor fight over delegates, and guarantee the disenchantment of new people drawn to the process, so that a few High Exalted party mucky mucks can go to the national convention for McCain.
It shows, at best, a messed up set of priorities, a lack of concern for fairness, and for the idea of having party unity. It is the type of heavyhandedness that Sullivan is proposing that makes people not want to be involved in politics, believing that their votes and involvements don’t matter. If Sullivan gets his way, it will make things very unpleasant for Republicans across Idaho.
