From China With Love
Posted by Adam Graham in : GeneralFrom Worldnetdaily, we have news that one corrupt regime has been taking notes from another:
Inspired by a trip to Communist China, Chicago’s Mayor Richard Daley says he wants the city’s public schools to move to a six-day school week.
Children, he says, need more time in the classroom, a longer school year and earlier exposure to foreign languages to compete in the global market.
I’m all for getting tough when necessary, but Mr. Mayor, but many of your kids in Chicago can barely speak and write English. In addition, if you don’t improve the competency of teachers, how is ineffectively educating kids for one extra day a week and longer each year going to solve anything?
By the way, try and get this past the Teacher’s Unions. They’ll never go for it. Its a good thing, kids need breaks and so do teachers. School terms used to be much shorter and kids learned far more. Abe Lincoln had 1 year of Formal Schooling his whole life. Myself, I went from starting school at 6 to graduating High School at 15 and then 4 years later started colleged and finished my AA degree with honors. Quanity does not necessarily equal quality.
