Is a birthday an excuse to be idle ? I think not . How many days a year do you
    need to take off ?

As many as are condusive to maintaining that blog/life balance that is so hrad. Regardless, while I’m not on this blog, I’m definitely otherwise occupied. From my main job I get 4 weeks vacation + 6 paid Holidays a year (going up to 5 week in 2008) and I hardly take that off from here. There’s not a day without a post going back to July, 2005.

5 weeks of vacation PLUS 6 paid holidays? That’s a part time job as far as I’m concerned. It must be nice to lead such a leisurely lifestyle. Enjoy those vacations now while you can. In due time I suspect you will be cursed …I mean blessed with little rugrats of your own. Even the vacations won’t be yours anymore. You’ll look forward to going to work so that you can catch a break.

If I sound a little frustrated it is for good reason. Next week I leave for China to adopt for a second time. This will be our third child. Just as I started to see the end of raising little brats my wife wants another.

The speed reader version is something like this. She had to wait 5 years after ovarian cancer almost took her life. because of the complications she need to attempt invitro fertilization. After several failures and a quick miscarriage she gave up. She didn’t wan to attempt the egg donor route. Thus the reason for our second adoption.

For the last few moths I have been rushing to finish an addition to the house so that we would have a separate room for the baby. I expanded to include a guest suite for the times my wife’s mother showed up. So everything is looking like it is rounding into form around here and I have adjusted to what life has tossed my way.

So the tickets are purchased and all the plans are made for the kids. After considering taking them with us we passed for a variety of reasons. My bratty little sister (the born again one) will split taking care of them along with my mother in law. SO all seems to be OK when suddenly (a few days ago) my wife informs me she is 10 weeks PREGNANT!
These are the times I wished I believed in a God so that I could give him a piece of my mind.

Anyway, next week I leave to handle the adoption ALONE. My wife wants to take no chances with this “miracle ” pregnancy. The flight out won’t be quite so bad but the return flight might kill me. Can you imagine having to handle this baby with no help! Once home
there will be no decent sleep for months to come and all the while another little urchin grows in my wife’s belly waiting to wreak havoc on my life. By the time I am back she will be even further along. I get to watch her fantastic figure morph into something unimaginable.
When she is pregnant she eats prodigious portions which I couldn’t finish. All day and all night. Not to mention what goes in one end comes out the other in the form of a noxious gas that could …

In late April or May of next year my family will have doubled in size. I thought I was half way there to freedom. But no. Just when I could see getting out they pull me in again . ( apologies to Mario Puzo ) I have a hard enough time keeping up with the two I have now. I’m getting too old for this stuff.

Well, I’m off to shop for a realistic doll that crawls and cries to acclimate my German Shepherds. Reagan is already pretty good with small children but Marshal hasn’t been exposed to an infant in our home yet

. After next week you won’t be seeing for a while here. Don’t think I have abandoned the Blog . I just will be a bit occupied for a time .
