I do believe that citizens have the absolute right to bodily sovereignty, which includes the right to defend oneself. In a world with firearms, one cannot defend oneself unless one has firearms.

However, the 2nd does have that “well-regulated” part in it. Militias were formed from among the common people. Do you think the “well-regulated” only applies to the operational functions of the militia? Well, if that militia is the common people, then how does the “well-regulated” not apply to them?

I think Congress can regulate firearms, but in those regulations in no way prevent someone who follows the rules from bearing arms. For example, I think people should be allowed to buy 50-cal machine guns and shoulder-mounted rocket launchers, but their should be an incredibly detailed background check, training courses, and yearly licensing to do so.
