Huckabee on 9/11
Posted by Adam Graham in : PoliticsFrom Mike Huckabee at HuckPAC on 9/11:
September 11, 2001. It seems like only yesterday that we all watched in horror as the terrorists flew airplanes into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. Each of us knew that our lives would never be the same. Now seven years have passed. As I think of that fateful day I realize that what happened seven years ago affects us in ways that some of us don’t even realize. Of course, we are fighting the terrorists wherever we find them. We have defeated them in Iraq and will do so in Afghanistan. But it has affected us in other ways too. We sing “God Bless America” at most public functions. Airport security causes all of us long delays and some irritation. Our presidential candidates discuss “evil” as a campaign issue.
The major effect that September 11 has had on every American is our vow as a Nation: “We Will Never Forget.” America was united as one people and one nation On this day, it is fitting and proper that we bow our heads in prayer – prayers of remembrance for the heroes who died on that day. To the innocent people at work in the World Trade Center, to the innocent passengers of the airplanes that were used as weapons, to the heroes of Flight 93, to the people who perished at the Pentagon, to the hundreds of Firemen, Policemen, rescue personnel, port authority police, we say again “We will never forget.”
We honor their memories, each in our own way. We also honor our brave military, who answered the call to service by their country. They have sacrificed much to help America keep that promise made so many years ago. Because of them we remain the greatest nation on earth. Because of them we are a free people. With deep gratitude and a renewed commitment, we will continue to remember – We will never Forget.
