Idaho Conservative Endorsement: David Litster
Posted by Adam Graham in : Idaho Conservative, TheUnlike Lucas Baumbach and Dan Dunham, I’ve not made any personal acquaintance with Dave Litster. However, he does win my endorsement for the Boise City Council race against TJ Thomson.
Litster brings practical real-world expereince, but most importantly is an opponent of the Trolley Folly, willing to put the matter to voters who would soundly thrash the issue.
What can we say about TJ Thomson? Thomson has of late acted as an “Independent voice” who is “undecided” about the Boise Street Car. However, if one wants to be an independent voice, it would be best not to launch your campaign with the endorsement of nearly every Democrat in town and active urging of support from the local Democratic Party. The pretense of indepence seems to me to be packaging far more than substance.
With the endorsement of Mayor Dave Bieter, Thomson seems likely to little more than a rubber stamp for the Bieter machine.
My endorsements for Dan Dunham and Lucas Baumbach still stand.

Once again, the Idaho Statesman has endorsed the candidates of the City Establishment. Throughout the years, the Statesman has thoroughly criticized moves such as the city’s outrageous $90,000 taxpayer-funded publicity campaign for the Boise trolley, yet at election time, the City never asks us to make the mayor and council pay a price.
Why?
Why is it that in the world of the Idaho Statesman editorial writers, there are decisions made that are arrogant, and bring a degree of partisan rancor what ought to be non-partisan city government.
The Statesman manages to condemn obvious arrogant over-reaches of the City Council, yet it seems that they can never affix any blame. Perhaps, it is because they are so blinded by their own belief in the progressive cause that matters more than a city government that is responsive and doesn’t try to play games with its people and a City Council that represents all Boiseans and not just left wing Democrats.
It is a time for a price to be paid and for the City Government to understand that they are accountable for their actions, even if their supposed watchdog in the press is choosing to act as a sleeping lapdog come election time.
