Idaho’s Senators on the RePork Card

Posted by Adam Graham in : Pork

The Club for Growth released their RePork Card for the US Senate. This is a tad less exhaustive than the House Version (15 votes v. 50 votes) but still it gives a picture of Congress.

While Idaho’s 2 house members offered a stark contrast (94% for Bill Sali and 4% for Mike Simpson), the Senators were closer together and much nearer the median. Mike Crapo scored a 67%, Larry Craig scored 50%, the Republican average was 59%.

Crapo cast some lonely votes. He was one of only 11 members of the Senate to vote against funding a visitor’s center in Louisiana before the needs of people displaced by Hurricane Katrina were met. Bizarrely, he did vote against an Amendment that would deny funding for adding sand to the beaches of San Diego until Sacramento are protected from the threat of floods.

However, overall Crapo is one of the more fiscally disciplined members of the Senate (ranked in the top 25), with some encouragement, hopefully he’ll do better. As for Senator Craig, hopefully his replacement will be more willing to take on wasteful spending.
