It’s Dead, Jim

Posted by Adam Graham in : Presidential Race 2008

The Hillary Clinton campaign has been a barrel of fun particularly for Republicans, but with her double digit loss in North Carolina and her 2-point victory in Indiana, it’s time for Team Hillary to evaluate how far they really want to go.

Winning the popular vote is out of the question. She’s 210,000 votes further behind Obama than she was coming in.

She’ll win West Virginia and Kentucky, but her campaign really depends on her winning every contest from now until June. The latest Rasmussen poll shows her trailing Obama by 12 in Oregon. The final contests after Puerto Rico are the Western States of Montana and South Dakota. Obama has won every major contest in the region.

Clinton  is going to have a tough time convincing super delegates after last night’s results. She doesn’t just need to draw an inside straight to win the Presidency, she needs a Royal Flush.

Pollsters may have helped seal the Obama nomination. Expecations were set. The Real Clear Politics poll of polls showed Clinton by 5 in Indiana and Obama by 8 in North Carolina, Obama beat the spread by 3 and 6 respectively.

Barring (another) major collapse, he’ll be the Democratic nominee and Hillary Clinton will be gone soon.

Not unless you want to make this a 48 state union! But that’s not my concern.

OT: The linkfest is not taking any Wednesday trackbacks. Just wanted to let ya know just in case anyone cares. ;)
