Jerry Brady v. Other Jobs in Boise
Posted by Adam Graham in : Idaho Conservative, TheI wrote before about the jobs Jerry Brady were creating paid $7.50 an hour to call people between 5-9 PM Sunday-Thursday. What benefits do they get? Electing a “great Governor.”
I went ahead and picked up a copy of the Statesman to compare this fabulous opportunity to other jobs being offered In Boise. Here’s a comparison of other Customer Service and Phone positions.
Avis Rental Car doesn’t list its wage, but it offers a 401(k), so I guess its a question of which is more important, “saving for retirement?” or “electing a great governor.”
Westaff is advertising for a CSR position paying $10.00 an hour.
Telemarketing appointment setting pays $9.00-$11.00 an hour.
The world of food service also seems to have a leg up or can at least compete with Jerry Brady:
Anton Airfood offers $8.00 an hour to cooks, and $7.50 to cashiers. Bartenders get paid $5.15, but they get to keep tips. Calling someone up during dinner will produce no tips other than perhaps, “Go jump in the lake.”
Cracker Barrell: $9.10 to start for line cook.
Line cooks at Le Cafe De Paris: $8.00 to start.
Given that so many employers are providing better wages than Mr. Brady, what exactly does he know about creating good jobs? He’s paying below advertised pay of telemarketing places and telephone customer service, yet he’ll not be protested for his treatment of workers or low wages by the political left. If not for this Craig’s list ad, no one would have known that a campaign boasting of out-fundraising its opponent is hardly paying a living wage. This is the height of irony.

It’s a sad day when a job working to better the government pays worse than a short-order cook. Assuming, of course, that this governor really will help the state and its inhabitants. Someone might want to remind him, however, that “taking care of the people of Idaho – like charity – begins at home.”

I couldn’t have said it better myself.
