Larry Grant Withdraws

Larry Grant dropped out of the race for Bill Sali’s seat. My first reaction was one of disappointment. Grant has had provided much blog fodder and I was planning on doing a series of blog posts on the “friends of Larry Grant” including Charlie Rangel, Barney Franks, Steny Hoyer, and other far leftists who contirbuted to his ’06 campaign.  However, it looks like those efforts will come to not.

Leaving the race to Walt Minnick (D-ID) leaves the Democrat a candidate who has not thrown himself to the Daily Kos left and who has deeper pockets. On the other hand, for all his faults, Grant proved himself a hard worker and a hard campaigner who could rally the base. Will Minnick be able to overcome the Idaho disadvantage of running on a party ticket led by a man who attacked Small Town America? I remain doubtful. However, I’ll be doing everything I can to keep Bill Sali in office.
