Let Him Buy A Sword

From 43rd State Blues we have an attack on Senator Gerry Sweet (R-Meridian) for pushing the ability to carry a concealed weapon in a vehicle.

The commenter writes:

Funny, in reading the bible I don’t recall Jesus packing heat or even suggesting that anyone else should pack heat.

Actually, as they didn’t have guns in Bible days, he couldn’t very well pack heat, though he did use a mean whip. Luke 22:35, and 36:

35And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing.

36Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.

Did Jesus tell them to buy swords? What would he have said today? “Go sell your best suits and buy a rifle.” In other words, pack heat.
