Life On the Outside

Posted by Adam Graham in : Politics

Clayton Cramer has the details on liberal attempts to limit the influence of a Boise Student Senator who has made controversial remarks that Communism and illegal immigration are bad.

It’s amazing to see these attempts to quell opposition. The more I think about this and other liberal attempts that have either worked (or come close to working,) the more I realize how ill-served liberals are by the modern academy. Liberals live in a place where offending them is enough to cost a peer their standing and through official means and support and bureaucratic processes, they can stop activities they don’t like.

However, college fails to prepare these students for the real life where not everyone who states an opposing viewpoint is punished and not everyone agrees with you. You can’t wish the opposition out of existence, you have to let them have their say.

Really, many colleges do as poor a job of preparing people for the outside world as prisons with high recidivism rates. Thus, we end up with many unhinged liberals because reality isn’t what their professors taught them it would be.
