First of all, I'd like some proof before alleging the PAC is anti-Mormon. Their ad against Romney didn't mention his faith at all.

Secondly, yes, Steve Thayn is a Mormon. He was a missionary to Brazil. I do think you're being far too harsh. Thayn is actually quite thoughtful on education. I would add that there are many Mormons who are actually further to the right than I am.

Much as Bill Sali doesn't comment on my blog, I assume Walt won't comment on yours; his website, though, is a lot more detailed as far as his policy proposals than Rep. Sali's is. If you think that Government Not God isn't an anti-Mormon group just because they say so, I presume you also believe Rev. Jeremiah Wright when he says he's not a racist. It's like the Democrats of the 70s and 80s, who claimed to be against the Soviet Union, but whose every vote tended to favor the interests of the USSR over the U.S. The proof is in the actions, and the actions of Government Not God say they're anti-Mormon. (That being said, I don't trust Mitt Romney either, and hope Sen. McCain picks a stronger VP.)

Is Steve Thayn really a Mormon? I have to admit I find that somewhat surprising, considering his strong anti-public education stance; the Church itself is strongly pro-public education. Still, the Church isn't politically monolithic, so I know it's possible.

First of all, Government not God is not an anti-Mormon group, it's an a group that is against Mitt Romney because he's untrustworthy on issues of concern to social conservatives. I don't trust Mitt Romney, I do trust Mike Crapo, and I really like Rod Beck and Steve Thayn. To suggest that if you don't like one Mormon politician that you're anti-Mormon is like saying you're anti-Black if you don't back Barack Obama.

Second, this is not trying to turn a late filing into Watergate, this question of who is Walter Minnick. Walter Minnick's campaign is the latest Bait and Switch Democratic Campaign. You read Minnick's website and he speaks in swelling generalities and calls himself a moderate and a conservative. This is the formula of House Freshman Democrats who were elected, have gone up to Congress and have governed as liberals. You look at his website and you see my generalities with few specifics.

You presume to answer for Walt Minnick, let Minnick answer for himself. It's time for some serious questions to be asked. The Idaho Statesman won't ask them. The Idaho Statesman is one sided in its coverage and will go after Sali for things they'll let Minnick get away with.

Charlie Rangel is the first liberal special interest I'm going to profile, but collectively far left Interests have poured tens of thousands into this race. What interest does Charlie Rangel have in electing a conservative? And will Walt Minnick distance himself from Rangel's attacks on rural law enforcement?

Wow... $10,000? That's almost -- but not quite -- 1% of the donations the Minnick campaign has received. If you believe that Walt will sell his soul for $10K, I guess you'd also think that Bill Sali is agreeing with everything proposed by the anti-Mormon group that contributed to him; of course, since Sali doesn't believe Mormons are Christians to start with, he's a little further along on that path anyway.

Anyway, since you said earlier you wanted to focus sharply on issues (and not this "extraneous" stuff), I'm about 100% certain that Walt Minnick opposes re-instituting the draft, and wants to cut taxes for all but the richest Americans.
