On Earth as It is Heaven
Posted by Adam Graham in : The Lord's PrayerOn Earth as It is Heaven
Many dream of Heaven
On Earth, but who will
Do anything about it.
We ruin our lives
By acting like fools,
We wink at evil,
And ignore the wisdom of old.
And then when tragedy strikes
We shake our fist at God,
Demanding how a just and loving
God could have allowed us to ruin
Our own lives.
We’re the men
Who always blame others
For our own failings
Because of idiotic pride,
We are the men
Who carry our grudges
Around like Linus
Carried his security blanket.
We care about ourselves,
Focus on our needs,
And wonder why we don’t
Have a world full of altruism.
Heaven is not full of love
And beauty because of a society,
But because each soul is part of Heaven,
Each soul radiates with the light of God
That shines so bright through New Jerusalem
That the sun is redundant
And the moon is obselete.
Lord, create in us
A little bit of Heaven
In this hellish world.
