On McCain and Craig

Posted by Adam Graham in : Idaho Conservative, The

Well, first of all, much adieu is being made about the Manchester Union Leader endorsing John McCain. Congratulations, the New Hampshire Union Leader clinches the Presidency. Just ask President Pat Buchanan (1992 and ’96) and President Steve Forbes (2000) about how well that works. out.

And now I see that Dan Popkey has turned the Idaho Statesman into the Idaho Enquirer, with a bunch of stories about Senator Larry Craig  soliciting sex at various times and instances, with little corroborating evidence.  Other than pure obsession or an attempt to make Republicans smart as much as possible, I have no idea why any good reporter would lower himself so unabashedly into the gutter of another man’s personal life.

That said, defending Larry Craig’s reputation and honor at this point is akin to defending a fort that’s been razed to the ground. One can only hope the obsessive tawdriness of the piling on stories will appropriately stir public outrage.
