On Playing With the Fish—With a Pellet Gun

From the Idaho Statesman:
A 34-year-old Boise man was charged with illegal discharge of a firearm in city limits Sunday after being accused of shooting at fish in the MK Nature Center with a pellet gun.
Curtis C. Jensen, who will appear in court on the misdemeanor charge in November, was arrested by Boise police just after 6 p.m. Sunday after someone walking by the nature center around 6 p.m. called police to report someone was shooting at the fish.
When officers arrived, they found Jensen, who was with two other men, holding a pellet pistol.
When asked by officers what he was doing, Jensen told them he was “playing with the fish,” Lt. Alan Cavener said Monday.
The fish weren’t harmed, thankfully. This was done at one of Andrea and I’s favorite city parks. Andrea had always wondered about the “no fishing” signs. Now, we have no objection or question. Now, next time I’m sure we’ll see a sign saying, “No Shooting the Fish With Pellet Guns.” And other young couples will wonder the reason why little suspecting that there are those who lack common sense to absurd cartoon-like degrees.

What ever happened to real Americans. What are you going to say to him on the streets when he is dropped of charges because he is innocent.Who are more stupid than those who judge and execute?

Innocent? They caught him redhanded. Are you saying its okay to harass fish? This is a city park we’re talking about. If he wants to get a fishing license and go fishing in an appropriate spot, have at it. But harassing the fish at the nature center is uncalled for no matter what your political stripes. What are you going to defend next? Shooting animals inside the zoo?
Furthermore, such cruelty to animals usually extends to other species as well, including to defenseless humans. For that reason alone, the justice department is in the right to take this seriously.
