On Risch for Senate
Posted by Adam Graham in : Idaho Conservative, TheLieutenant Governor Jim Risch (R) has declared that if Larry Craig retires, he’s interested in the Senate Seat.
Risch was a great governor and really got things done in the brief time he held the office. He was overwhelmingly re-elected Lieutenant Governor last year by a 20 point margin.
Risch’s age is the only real concern. If elected, he’d be 65 when taking office in the Senate and would be 77 after two terms. His age wouldn’t be unheard of in the Senate, but it’s a consideration. It’d be odd to replace a retiring 63 year old with a 65 year old.
Still, he’d be a good Senator and would hopefully hand Larry LaRocco another strong defeat.
