Privacy For Me But Not For Thee

Posted by Adam Graham in : Blogging

I really don’t have much sympathy for the anonymous blogger at Obsidian Wings “outed” by National Review’s Ed Whelan. (Hat Tip: Right Wing News.) Yes, Whelan violated a blogger’s wish to remain anonymous, but so what?

Did Publius Boo Hoo when National News agencies violated the privacy of Buckhead, the man who uncovered CBS’ lying about Dan Rather.  What about the outing of various homosexual Republicans on the specious grounds that if one is homosexual you’re bound to support all laws in favor of gay rights? Not to mention the Proposition 8 maps designed to intimidate people who gave money in support of Prop. 8 or the “Know Thy Neighbor” policy of the gay rights groups.

I personally will not engage in these tactics,  and I don’t encourage them, but I don’t have much sympathy for a left wing that tolerates tactics that make indicating a blogger’s last name. seem insignificant at best.
