Profile of a Traitor

Posted by Adam Graham in : Politics

So, Ted Rall is off comparing our troops to Suicide Bombers in profile of a Suicide Bomber. Per Andrea’s suggestion, see “Profile of a Traitor” below:

This is really a huge over-reaction to nothing. I truly do not understand what all the fuss is about. Is is so that your readership can re-affirm their superiority over anyone who writes something in opposition to your view point?

I am not really offended by this cartoon. I think its an extreme mis-representation-and way too simple minded. But you knew that when you turned to the page to begin with. Ted Rall writes for a certain type of audience-the same way Pat and Michelle Malkin and all the other right wing cheerleaders write for theirs. Nonetheless his cartoon raises some interesting points-that’s what cartoonists do-they challenge thinking and they have to do it in a short space of time. Thus their points generally have to be bluntly wielded. Why is it I can see that, but you can’t?

Either America is a democracy or its not. If it is then there are going to be points of view that a lot of us won’t like. It is worse when we are in a war that seems as if its never going to end like the war in Iraq. What I read between the lines here in the comments is that if one thinks the war is not the best thing for the country-one has no right to express an opinion.

Be glad there are folks who feel passionately about opposing view points-and take a step back and think about that fact-its the only thing that makes America different in the world.

I’m a Republican-and a long time Ted Rall reader. Does that make me a traitor too?
You guys just love to huff and puff over nothing.

First of all, looking at your blog, it doesn’t look very Reublican. But, be that as it may, what Ted Rall is doing is slandering the men and women of our armed forces.

I can’t remember the last time I commented on Mr. Rall’s stuff. 2004, I think. But there are lines you don’t cross. Attacking the integrity and character fo our soldiers is one he’s cross repeatedly. This is over the top and it’s too much. I don’t think anyone who opposes the war is a traitor. Ted Rall, however has crossed that line.

I’m not a Republican they way you probably are a Republican. I’m a dying a breed in the Republuican party- a moderate who thinks for himself, and believes that the party has been hijacked by extremists.

I think you and everyone else are reading too much into it, if you ask me. If you look at the other things he writes its about standard for him. What’s great about America is-if you don’t like it, you don’t have to buy it.

All this will do is increase his readership and as I have said elsewhere convince the already convinced about how repugnant he is. It would have been better just to let this sleeping dog lie.

I do not know if I would regard Rall as a traitor in the sense that he’s mentally and emotionally responsible for his actions. In one cartoon of his I’ve seen, he takes one past world leader (Adolf Hitler) and compares him to GW Bush. In doing so, he goes so far in trying to make Bush a villian that he presents Hitler as having been a sane, sensible, and responsible individual. Here is a person who no-doubt would prefer the leadership of someone with the same attributes of a Hitler to President Bush.

Now, I’m sure that Rall speaks, for a vast amount of the time, out of sheer ignorance. I’m sure he’s never read more than a few paragraphs about Adolf Hilter in his whole life; however, that alone, along with Hitler’s world-wide reputation as being one of the most evil, bloodthirsty tyrants who ever lived, should have served him enough notice not to go where he did with that particular cartoon. Also, anyone with any sense would know that if Bush even EQUALED Hitler (rather than exceeding him in being a dictator and a power-mad tyrant), Rall would surely be dead right now.

Ted Rall is insane. He does not make intelligent points with his cartoons, but rather goes far over the edge with ridiculous, infantile assersions and ignorance. Hitler himself suggested that one does not persude the masses with a small lie, but rather a big one. Out of his derangement and instability, he tells huge whoppers with his angry cartoons. Surely, he’s a crazed neo-disciple of Hilter’s Nazi movment.

A Liberal Republican, thus making the GOP label pretty meaningless for the purpose of establishing yourself as credible.

I think you and everyone else are reading too much into it, if you ask me.

So, he declares are troops to be suicide bombers? What nuance did I miss? What did I read into it, in fact. It’s pretty straight forward that he hates America and he hates our troops. He’s practically Al Qaeda’s official cartoonist.

All this will do is increase his readership and as I have said elsewhere convince the already convinced about how repugnant he is.

Oh, I don’t know, a few years back he actually pulled from a few newspapers after one of these controveries. We can only hope some members of the press will be as responsible this time. Next, onto John’s comments:

Also, anyone with any sense would know that if Bush even EQUALED Hitler (rather than exceeding him in being a dictator and a power-mad tyrant), Rall would surely be dead right now.

    This is true.

Ted Rall is insane. He does not make intelligent points with his cartoons, but rather goes far over the edge with ridiculous, infantile assersions and ignorance.

I’d leave that up to a psychologist to decide. It could just be that Rall is arrogant and infantile, not insane.
