Projecting Ron Paul’s Tea Party
Posted by Adam Graham in : Presidential Race 2008While the nation has focused on Mike Huckabee for the past few weeks, quietly but surely the Ron Paul fundraising juggernaut has been gathering for another burst of energy with the Tea Party online fundraiser slated for December 16th.
The Tea Party is centered around the 1773 Boston Tea Party. The goal is to get 100,000 people to give $100 each to the campaign of Texas Congressman Ron Paul. While that goal is probably a tad too far, Tea Party 07 is set to surpass the Paul grassroots accomplishments on November 5th when they raised $4.2 million for Paul.
The November 5th event ended up with just over 18,500 pledgers. You might expect $1.8 million to be raised at the $100 a pop donation total, but several factors drove it higher. Many people gave more than the $100. Many people who hadn’t pledged gave, most of them less than the $100. We can say that on average, each subscriber netted some $227 odd dollars.
If Paul shows a similar fundraising pattern, with 28,307 subscribers, Paul’s grassroots supporters are set to raise $6.4 million dollars on a single day. And let’s remember that they have another 5 days + to add supporters to the effort. So, the Tea Party could very well raise close to $7 million in a single day, which should allow the Paul Camp to shatter the $12 million 4th quarter goal in dramatic fashion.
