Random Acts of Coolness III

Posted by Adam Graham in : General

Special thanks for Andrea for rounding up most of these stories for me as I’ve been under the weather:

From David’s Right Way of Thinking, we have some great quotes from early Congresses showing the modern interpretation of “Seperation of Church and State” is far from what the Founding Fathers had in mind.

Mike Tate has a great commentary discussing how Tony Blakely’s predicted Islamic crisis in Europe. Tate writes:

Blankley claims Europe could be overwhelmed by Islamic militancy due to its growing Islamic population and the ultra-tolerant/self-hate doctrine of Multiculturalism allowing it to happen…

The good news is that there is a reaction in Europe against multiculturalism, against the fools that have been running these countries for years. It has only taken France getting to the point where its good news when only 100 cars are torched each night. What will take for us in America to reject this folly.

After reading Debbie Sclhussel’s latest blog entry on media bias and NBC’s attacks on Christians, I have to wonder what are they smoking/drinking/shooting up at NBC? I knew about the story of the Minutemen being up in New York state patroling our Canadian border (or maybe Law and Order believes Mexico will take everything up to Pennsylvania) and then killing a people smuggler. (An event “not ripped from the headlines” as I discussed last night. But according to Deb, we have this portrayal of Christians on NBC:

“E-Ring” showed a gang of Christian thugs (is there such a thing?) capturing a Detroit area mosque, killing mosque members, and trying to blow the place up. Like that ever happened–or would. (The Christians also murder FBI agents who are surveilling the mosque, as if the FBI in Detroit is actually monitoring, instead of kowtowing to, extremist mosques. It isn’t.)

That’s it! I’ve had it! I’m not watching NBC any more-oh wait, I don’t watch TV broadcast signals (and this is a good reminder why.) Conservatives are often accused of being vicious, mean-spirited, and vindictive, but we see this type of garbage coming out against Christians and Conservatives. The most ironic thing is that Hollywood intentionally rewrites stories to avoid making Muslims terrorists. The last Tom Clancy movie was based on a novel where the villains were Islamic terrorists but Hollywood changed it to be PC, but this type of stuff can go on TV? Talk double standards.

Blogs for Bush reports on a potential Democratic filibuster of Alito. I’m less likely to believe it will happen for a number of reasons. Mainly is that too many Democrats have too much to lose by a filibuster. I think of the whole gang of 7 on the Democrats side. They’ve got a lot to lose. In addition, there’s the Nuclear Option that comes into play. If McCain wants any hope of becoming President (and he does) than he can’t let this filibuster stand. Right now the whole gang of 14 are enjoying the fact that they as 14 individual senators hold so much power and enjoying the coolness of it all. They hold the Country in their hand if they stay united, but the day of reckoning’s coming and if Lindsey Graham, Michael DeWine, and company don’t stand firm, they’ll lose a lot of credability.

The Carnival of the Cordite is up and they’re very concerned about the latest decision of the nut jobs in San Francisco to ban guns. (Yeah, that’ll cut crime and protect people just like banning guns in France did…oops.) Anyway, if you’re a gun owner from San Francisco or if you’d like to adopt one of these poor orphaned guns, go and see the folks at the Carnival.

I also found a great quote from IAMO:

Now that there are no handguns for citizens, SF residents will have to fend off attackers with rape whistles, pepper spray, and sexually transmitted diseases.

So true.

At Michelle Malkin Bryan Preston hit on the point I’ve made for a while regarding the Iraq conflict. Clinton was pushing for invasion in 1998. The only thing he missed was the most damning information rather than the general fact that Democrats supported it.

So, I’ll give that out for free. (Well, CNN has it, but I’ll link to it.) Its the Townhall Meeting at OSU. Its the meeting, Democrats would wish you’d forget, but I have the inconvenient habbit of remembering. On the brink of committing US forces to a conflict in Iraq, rather than delivering a nationwide address, Bill Clinton chose instead to send out National Security Adviser Sandy “I carry important papers in my pants” Berger, Secretary of State Madeline Albright, and Secretary of Defense Bill Cohen to hold a town meeting with college students. Yeah, that’s a hawkish audience. The reason Clinton didn’t go himself was that he had been caught with his pants down and didn’t want to get a “Monica” question. The whole incident reminds us why Democrats shouldn’t be let within 10 miles of the White House, but also how the Clinton Administration was just as prepared to go to War as Bush was. The difference is that Bush actually had the political clout to do it, and Clinton didn’t.

Curious question here: What’s he doing writing for Michelle Malkin. I don’t follow her blog, but it may be time to make this “Michelle Malkin and Friends”.
A Good job all of those liberals working to make European society more progressive. According to the Brussels Journal. With gay marriage taking hold, polygamy’s back in town across Europe. England’s going to give a second tax deduction for a second wife. Slowly, European civilization is deteriorating. I hope people will think of this next time liberals talk about how we ought to be more like Europe. It’ll be interesting to see what the condition of women is in 100 years due to the liberal efforts of “do your own thing” and multiculturalism. My prediction: By the end of this century, they’ll be more opportunities for women in Iraq than women in France.

From Red State, we have great news. The Federal government ruled that a liberal group blog fit the definition of media. The ruling is welcomed, though that we’ve gotten to the point where its necessary is sad. Here’s an excerpt from the Unanimous ruling:

Fired Up is a for-profit LLC and is not owned or controlled by any political party, political committee, or candidate. Given that Fired Up’s operation of its websites is at the core of its activities as a press entity, its provision of news stories, commentary, and editorials on its websites falls within Fired Up’s legitimate press function. Thus, because Fired Up is a press entity, and neither it nor its websites are owned or controlled by any political party, political committee, or candidate, the costs Fired Up incurs in covering or carrying a news story, commentary, or editorial on its websites are exempt from the definitions of “contribution” and “expenditure.”

The Commission notes that an entity otherwise eligible for the press exception would not lose its eligibility merely because of a lack of objectivity in a news story, commentary, or editorial, even if the news story, commentary, or editorial expressly advocates the election or defeat of a clearly identified candidate for Federal office. See First General Counsel’s Report, MUR 5440 (CBS Broadcasting, Inc.) (”Even seemingly biased stories or commentary by a press entity can fall within the media exemption.”)

Wow! This is revolutionary. The idea that people can actually say what they want without the government interferring. Next thing you know they’ll tell us we have freedom of religions and a right to keep and bear arms (outside of San Francisco).

Before I rap up, I want to tell you about a cool site I found. Soap Detectives. They host public domain old radio shows. I can hardly wait to get some time this weekend to listen to one of their Dragnet podcasts.

See you with more random acts of coolness on Monday!
