Real Persecution
Posted by Adam Graham in : ChristianityI was just reading some old issues of Voice of the Martyr’s newsletter. I’ve got a lot of those hanging around the house. I never seemed to get around to them. Anyway, if you compare the previous two stories to the type of thing portrayed in VOM’s newsletter, some people will say of the pro-life t-shirts and the guy getting pushed on a public sidewalk, “That’s not persecution.”
What bugs me about these people is that they’re making this statement to criticize people who are actually suffering something, while they themselves aren’t and their argument is that somewhere in this world, someone is suffering more. Thats nonsense and in some ways its an attempt to assuage guilt about staying a safe distance away.
Its all logically flawed. Its kind of like saying that become a cancer is the size of the grape and not a grapefruit, its not really cancer. In reality, both are cancer.
