Replace Mitch McConnell with Anarchy?

Posted by Adam Graham in : Politics

John Hawkins makes his case  against re-electing Mitch McConnell as Senate Minority Leader and it’s a case I’m sympathetic with. McConnell has backed some things I really don’t like including amnesty, and he’s a big porker.

There’s one fatal flaw in Hawkins’ case. He has no suggested replacement for Mitch McConnell who would be better and there’s no announced candidate. So let me get this straight. I need to call up Senator Crapo and Senator-Elect Risch and tell them to vote for nobody for Senate Minority Leader. I don’t think so.

Hawkins also misses the point of the Senate Minority Leader’s job in a Republican Administration. It’s to cobble together 41 votes to stop historically bad legislation. Is there anyone in the U.S. who can do better at this than Mitch McConnell? No. And that’s why he should be re-elected.
