Rhapsody Review

Posted by Adam Graham in : General

I got Real Rhapsody to take advantage of its 25 service. (Where you get 25 free song plays per month.)

Here are some thoughts:

1) RR contrary to some confusing reports gives you 25 plays per month not 25 songs. If it were 25 songs, it’d be simple enough to download your favorites and listen to them. It’d be annoying to have to download songs in groups of 25. No, Rhapsody will let you do 25 listens and even if you’re listening to the same song twice, it counts 2 times. I listened to Sara Groves’ “More Like Scars” and Johnny Cash’s “When the Man Comes Around”.

2) The Sound quality is excellent. It almost CD-like and I’ve got a fairly weak DSL modem so that’s pretty high praise.

3) The songs were good and even the 30 second clips load fast.

4) The selection was fair. Several artists were not available: Paul Shanklin, Michael Combs, Steve camp, and a few others. The selection of Michael Card CDs was poor as they didn’t have any of his recent releases, nor did they have Boltz’s two latest releases.

If I were a huge music fan, I’d probably subscribe, but I can’t see paying $9.99 a month for the service. More likely I’ll use it to find potential CD buys and then buy them off Half.com.
