Russ Fulcher for Senate District 21

Posted by Adam Graham in : Idaho Conservative, The

My first rule of endorsements is that if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Not only is District 21 Senate not broken, it is the finest order of nearly any State Senate District in this State. Senator Russ Fulcher (R-21) is one of the best conservative leaders we have in the State legislature.

The Senator’s support for tax relief for working families, merit pay for teachers, and pro-life legislation stand out. In a Senate that leans left, Fulcher is a conservative leader. He is not just a conservative, he is a movement conservative who believes in Conservative values for the benefit of Idaho families.  You can tell the type where he stands with his solid 100% Conservative record.  I’m so glad the people of District 21 saw fit to send him to the Senate in 2006 and I hope they do so again.

I’m eagerly awaiting your endorsement for District 20, Adam. I can’t wait to see what kind of spin you’ll try to put on the candidacy of Shirley “John Birch Society Nutjob” McKague. Of course, she never shows up at any campaign events here in Meridian, otherwise people would laugh at her too much. As you write about how she represents the values of Meridian, please explain how her values fit in with a District that routinely provides 2/3 yes votes for school bonds.

Please explain to me, how bond elections which are often called at unusual times with little media coverage and in many cases a minute percentage of the population voting have anything to do with the State Senate.

So your theory is that people too stupid to find a polling place, operate a ballot, or acquaint themselves with their basic civic responsibilities should be deciding policy? I thought that was normally a liberal argument. Besides, considering that these bonds pass with a 60% or even 2/3 supermajority, I don’t think your argument holds much water.

No, what I’m saying is that people don’t show up if they don’t know there’s an election. Most people know there’s one in November, but they don’t know when some school district minion calls a bond election at a weird portion of the year. And if it passed with a 2/3 majority but only 20-30% of voters show up, it’s not all that legitimate, you’ve only gotten 20% of the people to support the bond. Snodgrass is all for holding elections at unusual times so that you can force more government through when nobody reports that there’s an election going on. If you can show me 60-70% of voters showing up for bond elections than I guess I’m wrong, but I’m talking facts not ideology.
