Scorecard Updates

Posted by Adam Graham in : Idaho Conservative, The

The State House voted 32-32 to reject a bill to require the State Controller to create a searchable database of spending. This vote will be on the Idaho Conservative Scorecard. A total of 5 Represenatives who had 100% voting records coming into this vote no longer do, and 1 Represenative who had a 0% voting record for this session no longer does.

As Betsy Russell reports, there have been numerous changes to the day care bill that goes to the Senate floor. T This bill is a compromised passed by the House Health and Welfare Committee. While, not perhaps the bill I would have written, it is much less onerous. Day cares with more than four unrelated children would be required to have background checks for employees, those with seven or more would be required to be licensed, but if there are less than thirteen children, continuing education doesn’t need to take place.

This compromise sailed through the House and Welfare Committee and it’s a different bill than was passed by the Senate. So the vote on the Committee’s bill will not be scorecarded. However, Senator Tim Corder (R-22) has raised the possibility of the Senate not liking these changes and there be a conference. It’s possible a conference report may be put on the scorecard if it’s a bad bill, but the next vote by the House won’t be there.
