I don't discount his greatness (thought I think his administration is far more complex than most people will addmit), but I also don't think he can be said to be a uniter, unless you consider a shotgun wedding unifying. Of course, when states starts seceeding before you take office and 45 days in, rebels fire on the US flag at FT. Sumter-man, we think Bush had it hard on 9/11. Try Lincoln flying into this situation. He had a tough job.

Regardless, he was not a uniter.

Actually, Adam, many of us who do know the particulars of Lincoln’s policies also consider him to be our greatest President. He was a uniter, but had the vision to know that the country could not be united without a great struggle.

Look, I’m not disagreeing with Lincoln. What I’m saying is that Lincoln didn’t say what Obama said Lincoln said and there’s not much of a middle ground on abortion. If there were Senator Obamna wouldn’t represent it as he voted against outlawing the killing of unborn children who have been born alive. So much for “uplifiting all her children.”

And how else could Lincoln have asked Americans to “come together” on the slavery issue? There was no middle ground on that particular despicable issue. Lincoln was right: “It will become all one thing or all the other.” No middle way about it. That’s unity. Obama isn’t playing on nobody’s ignorance. And that isn’t akin as you wrongly said “to a speech by Alan Keyes calling for America’s policy to become entirely pro-life or Kate Michelman calling for it to be entirely pro-abortion (no abortion restrictions anywhere for any reason.)” Now that’s ignorance from your own part. Its akin more to calling America to uplift all her children without leaving anyone behind.

No, my complaint with Obama was not that he was quoting Lincoln or aspiring to Lincoln, but that he was praising Lincoln for things he didn’t do and quoting him as saying things he didn’t say, but I will get around to writing that short story just for you.

so this The reason why Obama is bad? That he made a reference to Lincoln? Lincoln is regarded as one of the greatest American president so any prospective leader that get inspiration from him is good in my book. Unlike W. Bush who get his from ‘the coalition’ of profit seeking corporations and other special interest. Not to talk of from Hitler.

And, the ignorant who stay ignorant, will certainly vote for him. He has a way with speech, very eloquent, and charming. But, that does not a good President make.

But someone said this morning that, ‘today is the first day of his presidential run and now his whole life is open for scrutiny’. I’m sure he’s going to get it.
