Songs of the Presidential Campaign

Posted by Adam Graham in : Presidential Race 2008

Well, the posturing and attacks in the Presidential campaign have heated up in a recent days, and most of what’s gone on can be summarized in song. That’s why we’re pleased to offer this limited time CD of Presidential Campaign hits.

For example, there’s the simple basic premise of the Mike Huckabee and Fred Thompson’s supporters’ big online fundraising days that attempted to match Ron Paul’s November the 5th effort:

Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better

Thompson and Huckabee Supporters: Anything you can do, we can do better, we can do anything better than you.

Paul Supporters: No, you can’t.

Thompson and Huckabee: Yes, we can.

Paul Supporters: No, you can’t.

(after fundraising days.)

Thompson and Huckabee supporters: Crud, we can’t.

Then, there’s the song for Fred Thompson’s attack on Rudy Giuliani’s New York city record:

(To the Tune of New York, New York.)

I’m spreadin’ the news, I’d run far away
I don’t want to be a part of it-New York, New York
I’d have the blues, I couldn’t stand it for a day,
The anti-gun heart of it New York, New York.

America doesn’t want want to live where they can’t pack heat,
And find their guns grabbed—and them at the bottom of the heap.

And then there’s Rudy’s response (Hat Tip: Hot Air.):

(To the Tune of “King of New York.)

Tip your hat, I was the King of New York
How ’bout that, I was the King of New York,
In my dress, I was pretty,
It’s my city,
I was the King of New York.

The reason Thompson attacks me,
If he’d admit it,
Is that he has no record, despite eight years in the Senate.

Mitt Romney made his recent attack on Rudy Giuliani’s fiscal record in New York while claiming Rudy was a good man and a “friend.”  So his song has an equally positive tone:

For he’s a jolly good fellow,
For he’s a jolly good fellow,
For he’s a jolly good fellow,
Who raised the deficit,
Who raised the deficit,
Who raised the deficit,
For he’s a jolly good fellow,
For he’s a jolly good fellow,
For he’s a jolly good fellow,
Who raised the deficit

And Fred Thompson’s recent comment (Hat Tip: Reformed Chicks Babbling.) on gun shows being paradise inspired this little ditty:

Fred Thompson’s Paradise

(To the Tune of Gangster’s Paradise)

We’ve been spending most of our lives livin’ in Fred Thompson’s paradise.
We buy guns every month at least once or twice, livin’ in Fred Thompson’s paradise.
We protect our family with our very lives, livin’ in Fred Thompson’s paradise
We tell the truth about anti-gun lies, livin’ in Fred Thompson’s paradise.
