The Barricuda

Posted by Adam Graham in : Presidential Race 2008

Tonight at the Republican Convention culminated with a fantastic speech by Sarah Palin. The media talking heads miscalculated badly. Their comparisons to Dan Quayle were idiotic. While the real Dan Quayle is a good and decent man, the Dan Quayle of media history was the lightest of lightweights.

Tonight, what America got was Sarah “The Barricuda” Palin. It was a barnburner of a speech that showed determination and pure grit under fire. It took jabs at the Democrats, the Washington Establishment, and gave us a picture of who this woman is.

Governor Palin’s zingers at Obama, the media, and Democrats showcased her strength, experience, and determination. After having been talked about by everyone in the country, it was Governor Palin’s turn to speak and she held nothing back and America saw that Sarah Palin was one tough lady.

She has ignited the Republican base of the party behind this ticket like nobody’s business and to the rest of America, she has laid out the choice in this election  clear. She has rallied Republicans and has spoken to the common sense of Americans who are unsure about the Obama campaign’s rhetoric.

How do you know the speech was a success? Chris at Unequivocal Notion writes:

Conservatives are kinda like 13-year-old girls when it comes to the flavor of the month. They’ll soon wear tired of Palin and toss her to the side like tweenies do when the next Britney Spear’s single comes out.

Remember Schwarzenegger from the 2004 RNC? These people were ready to amend the Constitution to allow him to run for President. Now they show him only disdain.

I think a lot of the hype over Palin is just that, hype. Palin lacks experience and substance and as the election wears on, Republicans are going to see that they are the ones who are going to pay the price for McCain’s lack of vetting.

First of all, the people willing to amend our Constitution for Ah-nold tended to be the party establishment. This is spread throughout the grassroots. As for substance, it’s very interesting that the Democrats go from arguing that she’s a scary, nutty extremist to having no substance, and it is wishful thinking on Chris’ part.

This election’s going to be a dog fight-or a fish fight perhaps. Let’s get it on.
