The Company Our Congressmen Keep
Posted by Adam Graham in : PoliticsThe Politico has a fascinating map of where members of the House sit. (Hat Tip: Club for Growth.) The Politico notes that if Congress is truly like High School, then the floor of the House is the cafeteria where the same people sit together day after day, week after week.
Rep. Bill Sali (R-ID) almost certainly sits with the House Republican Freshmen at the front of the House near the Republican lectern. The Politico describes the 2006 Republican Freshmen class as especially close knit and Sali as their president could be expected to be right there with them. The 2006 Freshman class has overall been a bright spot in a rather dismal session, with a generally conservative voting record.
Mike Simpson (R-ID. 2) is mentioned as sitting with Ohioans and Appropriators including Rep. C.W. “Bill” Young (R-FL) which explains part of the reason Simpson is such an ardent porker. Though, Simpson was never much of a fiscal conservative.
I do note that on the Democrat side, Blacks and Hispanic Democrat Men in Congress tend to self-segregate. It’s a sad note that such practices continue into the 21st century. One wonders how we can expect racial harmony and integration from kids on school campuses if our members of Congress can’t pull off the feat?
