The Rockies Win!

They did it, with a 4-3 win over the Diamondbacks, the Rockies have forced a decisive playoff game tomorrow at Coors Field with the San Diego Padres with the winner taking the wild card, and the loser going home. The Rockies will most likely send up Josh Fogg in this game against Padres Ace Jake Peavy.

For Colorado to have even made it this far is a testament to the pure heart and dedication of that team. They were 76-72 on September 15th, 4 1/2 games behind at 80-67. The Padres went 9-6 down the stretch, the Rockies 13-1

Update:

It’ll be a long time (if ever) before Tara Rowe is won to our side on politics, but Mr. Rookie of the Year and Mr. MVP are moving her towards the Rockies.

If next season is similar to this one, I may find myself watching more Rockies baseball (I can hardly believe I just said that) as I have been very impressed with Troy Tulowitski and Matt Holliday.

Woo hoo! Go Rockies!

Go Padres! (That being said, I think the Padres were completely stupid not to start Peavy on Sunday. Conventional wisdom says to clinch as soon as you can, and don’t try to “game” the system assuming you can win the one game playoff.) The Rockies certainly have the momentum and, obviously, home field advantage, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they win; it’ll serve the Padres right.

I understand your point about Peavy. However, had Bud Black run Peavy up, Peavy would have been pitching on 3 days’ rest. Would Peavy have beat Milwaukee if he’d only had 3 days’ rest? Maybe, but had he failed, it would have left the Padres going into this final series with Brett Tomko or a similar lame starter on the hill. However, I conclude with Go Rockies!

Go Rockies! There’s no point rooting for the Padres because they’ll just sell off half the team over the summer anyway.

    That said, Josh Fogg?! Seriously?

You go for the best pitcher you have which was Fogg, believe it or not.
