However, had Bud Black run Peavy up, Peavy would have been pitching on 3 days' rest. Would Peavy have beat Milwaukee if he'd only had 3 days' rest? Maybe, but had he failed, it would have left the Padres going into this final series with Brett Tomko or a similar lame starter on the hill. However, I conclude with Go Rockies! (That being said, I think the Padres were completely stupid not to start Peavy on Sunday. Conventional wisdom says to clinch as soon as you can, and don't try to "game" the system assuming you can win the one game playoff.) The Rockies certainly have the momentum and, obviously, home field advantage, so I wouldn't be surprised if they win; it'll serve the Padres right. Go Padres!
