The Trouble With Huckabee

Podcast Show Notes

Let me say this. I like Mike Huckabee. He gave one of the two best speeches at the Iowa Straw Poll in Ames. That said, he can’t unite conservatives because of his fiscal record. There’s numerous issues such as his support and agreement with House Pork Champion Don Young, his awful record on school choice, and his tax and spend record in Arkansas. His response? Attack the Club for Growth as the Club for Greed. Just great, Mike. When challenged with your record, fire an ad hominem against an organization that’s helped conservatives across the country win election. If he gets a top 3 ticket out of Iowa, expect his opponents to bludgeon the campaign to death on this growth issue, and to win doing so.

Also:

  • I give some praise to the DNC. Rarely, do I agree with Howard Dean, but he dand the DNC did the right thing in stripping Florida of its convention delegates for their audacious attempt to move their primary January in violation of Democratic Party Rules that were agreed to. Hopefully, this will send a message to Michigan, whose trying to move their primary to January 15. Yes, it may cost the Dems a few votes in Florida, but it’s still the responsible thing to do. You got to put the breaks on this run away train, because if you don’t, as much they’d rather not do it, Iowa and New Hampshire will end up voting in 2007. They will be first in the nation, even if they have to move the primary/caucuses to yesterday.
  • The deficit’s coming down, but as Investor’s Business Daily writes a Democratic Tax increase could make it go higher.
  • A State Representative in Alaska is calling for the retirement of the Republican’s Answer to Robert Byrd. I doubt he’ll retire. Will Alaska Republicans be wise enough to dump him or repeat the mistake that Montana Republicans made with Conrad Burns?
  • An abortionist uses the Koran to sell a woman an abortion.
  • G.I. Joe: No longer a Real American Hero. (Hat Tip: Wizbang)
  • Gay Civil Unions v. Freedom of Religion: The legal battle has begun in New Jersey. So much for live and let live.
  • The growing threat of Hugo Chavez. If only, he were little more than a nutty guy who moved the time zone of Venezuela around. Unfortunately, he’s stockpiling weapons, crushing dissent and taking steps that will establish him as a dictator and a Central American strong man.
