The Carnival of Poetry VIII

Posted by Adam Graham in : Poetry

Welcome to the eighth Carnival of Poetry here at Adam’s Blog. We’ve got a really good show for you today, featuring eight great poems (appropriate for the eighth carnival.

Poetry is a thing of beauty. Its also a quite personal thing. Some of these poems may not be your cup of cake (yes, I know normal people say cup of tea, but poets are weird. ;) however they are presented in appreciation to the poets who wrote them. For, it is their heart and imagination on the page. It is their dreams and visions, their nightmares and pictures that drive their poetry.

As this is the first Carnival of 2006, these poems centered around the theme of first poems. Some submitted their first poem on their blog, their first poem of 2006, etc. As experienced Blog Carnival veterans, I know that good Carnivals have posts in some order. Chronological order of posts generally makes no sense. So the poems are listed in order of length from shortest to longest.

I briefly introduce each poem with a link and then include the poets self-selected excerpt and description in a:

blockquote

Now that the preliminaries are out of the way. on to the Carnival.

A splendid read of poetry here! So many poems, so little time I’m afraid…what a pity.
