The Cartoon Wars

There’s so much that’s already been said about the Islamic Attacks over some cartoons published in a Danish Newspaper. Click here to find blogs carrying the cartoons.
To recap, Instapundit has some great coverage including this observation:
The bad news is that the Boston Globe is siding with the barbarians, comparing the Danish cartoonists to Nazis. Just look at the photo and decide who really deserves that comparison. Michael Graham is unhappy with the Globe, too.
The funny thing is that the Globe views fundamentalist Christians as a god-besotted threat to liberty, but makes excuses for people like this.
Michelle Malkin has been on this story like gangbusters. She’s been the go-to source for news and she’s got some great collections of information and pictures. One is here where she has pictures of protestors holding signs that say, “Europe, you will pay, your 9/11 is on its way,” “Slay those who Insult Islam”.
Now mind you, Christians get attacked in the media if they try and get a TV show cancelled. Think about this that in every nation in Europe and America, you can watch films where everyday the name of the Lord is blasphemed. The most extreme suggestion to come from anyone is that you shouldn’t see those films.
Michelle also has a Windows Movie up with a montage of pictures on the cartoon and then video of the wild Islamic reaction to the burning of the embassies in Syria.
Jay at Stop the ACLU has some thoughts along the line of what I’ve been thinking:
Can democracy co-exist with such large numbers of this kind of extreme mentality? They have no alms with destroying freedom. They have no tolerance for freedom, and illustrate that very well. I’m not advocating anything like wiping them off the face of the earth, but have no doubt that this is the kind of mentality they would advocate for us, and for freedom. So, as groups like CAIR, and the ACLU are quick to defend these extremists, make note that these very same folks would be the first to do away with our First Amendment. If we stand by and appease them, they will destroy us.
Wow, so what else is there to say? I think its vitally important to shed political correctness from our nation’s life. There are many things that wishful thinkers may wish to believe:
1) That Islam is a Religion of Peace
2) That All Religions are Basically the Same
3) That life is neutral.
We may wish to believe these things. We may wish to bathe ourselves in false hope, but they’re not true. On a fundamental level, Islam is different. While, there are good Muslims individuals, when Islam collectively comes to dominate, it destroys everything else from society.
Can we peacefully coexist? I hope so. Most Western countries have little problem from their Confuscist, Taoist, Hindu, and Jewish population. The real question is whether the Islamic leadership wants peace.
This has really been the problem in our world for a long time. Especially in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The Israelis want peace desperately. The Palestinians? Its really not a priority, based on the recent election win by Hamas, I don’t think so.
Until Muslims want peace as much as we do, we won’t have it. Its that simple. If Muslims don’t care about peace, than any other gestures will be seen as appeasement.
