The Culture of Death on the March: Forced Abortion Coming to the Netherlands

A health official in the Netherlands has called for a debate on the idea of forced abortion and contraception to deal with what she sees as a crisis of unwanted children.
But, wait, say the liberals. It could never happen in America. What we see happen in these other secular states that liberals are constantly telling us we should be more like has nothing to do with what will happen here.
Not so fast, the argument from Marianne van den Anker sounds somewhat familiar:
In an interview in a newspaper Saturday, she said she had tried everything to prevent child abuse.
“I fail, I fail,” she told the interviewer as she outlined her controversial idea for a debate on compulsory abortion and contraception.
The target groups for her program are Antillean teenage mothers; drug addicts and people with mental handicaps, she said, according to a report in Expatica.
According to the report, Van den Anker said children from these groups run an “unacceptable risk” of growing up without love and with “violence, neglect, mistreatment and sexual abuse.”
Where have I heard this type of logic before? Maybe its NOW, whose selling a bumper sticker, “Every Child A Wanted Child. Then Van Den Anker is simply living out the meaning of the bumper sticker abortion politics.
Whether it will pass or not this time is quite irrelevant. It will pass eventually, this stuff always does in the Netherlands, and we’ll see how much more deranged a Western Civilization can become. The question is when we’ll decide our own slide into madness. We’d better make it soon.

what the woman is proposing is discrimination and racism at it’s worst. The netherlends, like all of europe, does it not have a problem with dropping birth rates? No child is unwanted or unloved, someone out there is willing to provide them a home (there are waiting lists of people wanting to adopt! waiting lists!) And the child is especially not unwanted if you have to FORCE the mother to kill her child.

Wow , I just had a memory of a freshman year debate . Red Herring is what they called my warning of euthanasia and forced abortion .
As we go casually down this path the moral barriers which prevent other abominations will gradually fall. As the rights of the individual become subjugated by the rights of society health care will be rationed to a much greater degree. Other cultures have practiced this in ways that we would find shocking and deplorable. But in the future this may become not only acceptable, but necessary for the society we are creating.
Keep this in mind the next time someone dismisses your concern about the slippery slope.

The slippery slope loses its place as a fallacy when you can show through logic or history how it happens.
