This Looks Like a Job for a Liberal Hollywood Actor

Brandon Routh (who played Superman in Superman Returns) campaigned for Barack Obama. Other than CNN playing up the Superman angle (CNN, you know Routh is just an actor that plays Superman) there’s not a whole lot surprising here, politically.

The one thing I wondered about is whether Superman Returns both resurrected and killed the Superman movies. It wasn’t as big a blockbuster as the Spiderman films, and there are no planned productions showing on IMDB for a sequel to the film. It’s attempts to pretend it was a continuation of the 1970s series may have been a little odd. Judging by how quickly “The Dark Knight” is getting a sequel, I think we can say a reboot works better than saying, “Let’s pretend those last two Superman movies didn’t happen.” Routh could spend years as the incumbent Superman despite not playing the part for a decade or more until someone decides to do a fresh version.

One can only hope the next Superman is a Republican.
